S&B - What have you done to me?!

Mombojombo · 13/04/2012 09:51

I only stumbled upon this forum a fortnight ago, looking for DIY beauty tips because DH and I are up to our necks in necessity-enforced austerity.

Somehow in that fortnight I've started the oil cleansing method, bought some Superga pumps, mascara, lippy and shampoo ALL recommended on S&B, I'm watching a million pairs of jeans on eBay, have a new haircut and am getting my nails done next week.

Whaaaaaa?? Is that Austerity, Mombo? What's to be done with me! I might have to stay away from S&B. Is everyone else as impulsive and vain as me?

Yes me! I do OCM, bought the Soap and Glory Footfile, the Babyliss Big Hair . . .

And I have an appointment to get my nails, eyebrows and lashes done.

Next thing I'm doing is washing my face in acid.

And I'm seriously considering Boris, even though previously I've always been Shock at the thought.

Now because of the Emla cream tip, I might even get waxed!

mombojombo I discovered MN in Jan, ( needed a diet thread....it worked) the side effect though has proved costly. I stumbled onto S And B which has fuelled my fashion obsession, added to the fashion blogs I have also discovered, there is no hope! Grin I have actually worried that I might have a MN addiction....AIBU to think I am addicted??!!! Maybe we should for MN anonymous support group!

anniewoo - Emla cream is a local anesthetic cream. Presumably if applied before waxing it would make it (more or less) painless.

it's a nightmare........I also purchased:
the MN scarf
soap glory foot file
DP navy dress (Mrscb)
acid peel
Hush pijamas
liquid gold
...................
but I confess to be being responsible for sales of face oils, water based serums, coconut oil and expensive natural beauty products.....

Ah yes, the BD Primer, guilty of that too! Didn't buy the MN scarf but only cos I don't like scarves otherwise I would probably have one in every colour Blush

it was a few months back so out of fashion now (though I still wear mine): an ebay number, animal print maxi scarf, copy of LV one, for £10

On the plus side, I have saved money since being on MN. So by my (biased/skewed) reckoning, my spending and saving have evened themselves out Grin

Oh dear, me too! I've started the ocm, use coconut oil on my hair, nail envy, LD crystal nail file, BD primer. I seem to be losing the power of independent thought!
Oh, and I'm also trying to get the soap and glory footfile (STILL out of stock)

I've only been looking on S&B since last September, so far I've have bought:

Babyliss Big Hair
BE Mineral makeup, then was persuaded to try Lily Lolo which I now use instead
Liquid Gold

The makeup was a huge outlay for me - I couldn't just have the foundation, oh no, I had to have the concealer, veil, eyeshadow, mascara etc etc. I also changed my skincare regime completely and now use only glycolic products, the Liquid Gold being the most recent addition.

I have bravely grown out my over plucked eyebrows and now have them threaded and they look fab :)

I was then introduced to Dressipi which has led to me revamping my entire wardrobe! So have bought countless dresses, mostly from eBay so not major £££ but even so...

My biggest regret about being on this board is that for years I've tried, unsuccessfully, to curl my hair using straighteners. A few weeks ago I had my lovely long hair cut off into a shaggy bob-type style. About 2 days later someone on here posted a link to a video of how to curl hair with straighteners and it seemed completely different to any others I'd seen. I tried it on my 12yr old DD's hair and it bloody worked! So now I know how to do it and I don't have any hair to do it on :(

So, I'm perpetually skint now but still love S&B Grin

I agree....love S and B....much friendlier than AIBU!!!!!! But just so tempting. It keeps me current, (ish). Quite a boost when strangers like your opinions too.

Love S and B especially foundation threads of which there are plenty but never enough!
Have bought, Nivea tinted foundation, Lily Lolo, green primer and some sea salt hairspray (completely useless). Want to buy Burts Bees tinted lip balm, Estee Lauder double wear and some natural coloured eyeshadows that are mentioned frequently. Still not happy with my looks (will it ever happen?) and find that products last too long so I can't justify buying new but I love trying things out and reading what others do.
