Leather Jacket

I've been thinking I'd like a leather jacket but have never seen one I like enough (I've not spent too long looking!) and also never sure whether the £ are worth it.

I like the button up, black one the girl is wearing here;

community.asos.com/blogs/spotted/post/?contentid=5836194803691145920

for the reason it is button up - it looks a bit more feminine. I know I don't want one that has a fabric ellasticated waist or cuffs or one with too many zips.

Any suggestions on where to start looking and things to look out for. Are they worth it? Will it last? Will it date? etc etc

TIA

Think the one she is wearing is this from All Saints, which looks to be out of stock, at least on their website.

PS To answer your other questions I think you get a fair bit of mileage out of a decent leather jacket; the biker style is obviously classic. Look for leather that's good quality, soft and not too thick and keep things fairly simple with the cut -- you will know your perfect jacket when you see it.

Thank you - that was quick! I've had a look at All Saints and they have a few that I like which is a great start. Anywhere else you think might be good for looking?

Thanks again.

Redbaubles, have you looked on the TKMaxx website ? I pointed Remus in their direction the other day. They have quite a nice selection of leather jackets and with loads of discount !

Don't forget ebay. They have loads and loads of cheapy leather jackets. You could get one for this autumn/winter and see how much you wear it - then invest next year if you feel you'd wear it a lot.

I'm watching this thread as I've been thinking about getting a decent leather jacket for a couple of years - have had a brief look around but haven't found anything.

I have a long body and the ones I've tried on just look too short and boxy for me. Think I'm a vase/hourglass shape.

I have a leather jacket which I love - only problem is it's black and after recently having my colours done I'm not supposed to wear black - I've been toying with the idea of getting another one but not sure if I should go for grey or tan?

Can you not just wear a scarf of the right colour next to your face and keep the black?

Hello,

Thanks for all the replies!

I called All Saints and the black Lelex jacket is only available now in a Manchester store (size 10/12) which is annoying as they wont take payment over the phone or arrange to post from a store....

So I went to my local TKMaxx thinking this may have been worth a punt given the price;

www.tkmaxx.com/jackets+coats/black-worn-look-leather-jacket/invt/35024427/

but they didn't have any there and I'm hesitant to buy online. I don't really like the belt hoops, it looks a bit short/boxy and the shoulders look a bit bulky. But I kind of like it - I think I like the price!!! Any opinions?

then there is this All Saints one;

www.allsaintsarchive.com/women/leather/ayala-jacket/black/wlh082-5

but again not sure. It doesn't look so edgy. And the twist in the back may be a bit annoying.

The TB one is lovely and if it was about £100 cheaper I'd definitely be interested. Is it current season - chance of it going on sale any time soon?

TIA again!

PS. TKMaxx did have a nice Ronit Zilka one but it was in brown. And they also had some Michael Kors ones which were ok, felt a bit stiff and only in a 14 but its worth keeping an eye on.

And I also had a look here www.muubaa.co.uk which had some ok ones but all sold out in a size 10.

I prefer the cut, buttons are nicer and fewer. I like the bottom with the loop holes (looks more finished iyswim). The collar and the defo the price Grin

Although the All Saints one looks really good in the ASOS picture you linked too. Will have to see how the TkMAxx vairs in the flesh.

I've ordered the Michael Kors TKMaxx ones before and returned as I thought they looked a little young for me. I thought the ones I received were nice and soft though.
So, I have re-ordered my fave as it is now reduced by £30!
Thanks OP for savingConfused me some money and for making an old woman mutton happy.Smile

Argh! Am now wracked with indecision...

TragicallyHip, archanat and moragbellingham - can you pls let me know what your purchases are like?

And tethersend, thanks. I like the one you linked to - at first I wasn't sure but now I really like the stitching and braiding but don't go much for the buttons. I was thinking could maybe change them but not sure if it would be worth the risk.
