Zoe Ball on Radio 2

I haven’t heard a lot so apologies if my perceptions seem wrong.. When I’ve heard her, she reminds me of a contestant on Just a Minute: she has to unnaturally stretch some of her words and comments to fill the time she has. I’ve also never heard her say a word of anything she appears to have thought herself. She laughs, she introduces guests and asks them questions, but nothing seems to come from her.
She reminds me of Ant and Dec: proficient in their field but of no more interest than that.

I quite like Sara Cox for the fact that you get a sense of her.

All of the above said, I can’t deny that it’s admirable for anyone to hold together a programme professionally and obviously that’s a skill she has.

I’d love to know if anyone disagrees with me.

I drive to work when she does that "show and tell" feature. It makes my toes curl and I have to switch to local radio.

I don't like or rate zoe or Sarah's show. It's all gone downhill :(

I agree. There is little in the way of personality or wit in her show and she has a dreadful breathy way of speaking. It’s really odd. I can’t believe she was the best person to present the breakfast show. She must know where the bodies are buried at the BBC!

I have migrated to radio 4.

I used to love radio 2 Sad

I keep flicking between radio 1 & 2. I like Zoe but hate her interview style her questions go on for 30 mins and answer themselves - leaving the interviewee the only option to agree. Rather than asking a short question and let them elaborate with an answer.

I have followed Chris to Virgin

Can't stand Zoe Ball! When Chris left I went with him to Virgin Radio - don't listen to R2 at all now. I did for years - it's a shame.

I turn over to Radio 2 during Thought for the Day and the sport, but I’m not finding it that diverting. Jazz fm is ok.

I love Sara cox. She should have had the breakfast show imo. Zoe ball I find tends to ask a guest a question but then rather than let them answer it just keeps talking so that they keep trying to answer and talking over each other

I love Sara Cox but the music is fucking abysmal

if only I could combine the play list of Shaun Keaveny from 6 Music with the chat of Sara Cox. I'd be a happy woman.

Zoe Ball was responsible for me leaving radio 1 in the 90's and discovering radio 4 (I should probably be grateful). I feel that same way abut her now. I'd walk a long way not to have to listen to Zoe Ball.

I used to enjoy her but this job really doesn’t seem to be a fit - she seems very uncomfortable and flailing most of the time. Some blame must be laid at the door of the producer - surely they can’t be happy with what is happening?

I think Chris Evans is an infinitely superior radio personality but I had looked forward to a female presenter as his programme and interests were so male centric. Sadly, instead of getting an interesting female slant, it’s just gone from Chris Rea to Bananarama.

I used to love Chris Evans, but about 2 years ago I realised that I simply could not ever listen to him again. I commute 70 mile per day so choice of radio station looms large in my life!

I can't help but wonder if my age group are being moved on? That's what they do, move us from radio 1 to radio 2 and I think that might be what's happening with Zoe Ball? I liked Nick Grimshaw, can't stand Greg James and so tried radio 2, I quite like her. I don't catch Sarah Cox because of the time I leave work but I've always liked her in the past.

I usually don't mind her but agree she is an appalling interviewer. She just rambled on incessantly, gives the guest 5 seconds to answer, interrupts and goes off on one again. I do really enjoy Sara Cox though

I switch on in time to catch Ken Bruce. I can't waste headspace trying to make sense of ZB

I like Zoe Ball but really, really hate the “children slot” thing. Listening to your own child sing/play the sodding recorder at 7.40am is torture enough let alone someone else’s BGT wannabe.

Both of them drive me nuts but no one is worst than Steve Wright. Although I do like rylans show 😃

Oh yes, I like Rylan. He makes me smile! But radio 2 during the week.... I can't stand Ken Bruce (I know that's controversial but I just don't get it) or Steve Wright either.

I couldn’t stand Chris Evans, but Oh how I now wish he was back. And why oh why did they ever change drive time, I loved Simon Mayo.im afraid it radio 4 or commercial radio for me now too.

I haven’t listened to R2 breakfast since Terry Wogan left. I am a life long R4 listener but Terry was my guilty pleasure. I’d like them to just play his shows in that slot tbh. No particular issue with Zoe Ball but has a habit of taking a loud breath in between sentences and once I hear it it’s all I concentrate on. I do like Sara Cox but probably wouldn’t have made the move from R4 for her. I suspect I’m too old now for ‘fun’ breakfast shows so more likely my issue than hers.

I love Ken Bruce, but as for Steve "love the show" Wright. No, no, no. Why is that man still allowed on air, he has got to be the worst thing about radio 2. Actually, ignore that, he's got to be the worst thing about radio.

I think you are right, she's a very proficient broadcaster but isn't enough of a personality to replace Chris for the breakfast show. I gave her a go but literally never remembered a thing that happened on it, it never grabbed my attention. We listen to virgin now.

Steve Wright is unlistenable but apparently millions of people disagree. It feels like listening to the 80s, and not in a good way. DJ fucking Silly Boy?

I liked Zoe on Saturdays and I am rooting for her but she doesn’t sound hugely comfortable. I am so pleased that Chris Evans and his ego have fucked off though.

Yes, but Chris Evans
TALKS OVER THE MUSIC!
