How far off was your due date from the actual birth date?

Hello,

I’ve been planning this for 2 years and I’m going to try and conceive early 2018 so I can have a baby born after September (so they’re the oldest of their school year).

Through fertility calculators, it states that if my last period is the 26th of December, fertilisation would probably happen on the 8th if Jan and the baby would be due 2nd October.

How accurate were your due dates were compared to the estimate? And did you use an ‘online due date calculator’ before hand and was these results fairly accurate to the actual birth date?

Dd was due on Xmas day. She was born 8 Jan, but equally could have been born 11 December and still be full term.

I wouldn't plan too precisely, maybe don't ttc until 1 Jan?

DD due 11th Nov, arrived 26th. LMP date was 14th Nov but was moved back 3 days.

DD was 10 days early though 12 days early going by original due date based on LMP

the only thing predictable about due dates is their unpredictability! Both mine were 12 days late according to dating scan. Ds1 looked like it and dd2 really didn't!

I had one born on due date, two born a week late.

Both mine were born at 37 weeks. Impatient children!

DD1- they moved my due date back 8 days from my LMP date. She arrived 10 days before due date (2 days after LMP date)

DD2 - they moved my due date back 2 days from my LMP date. She arrived 4 days before due date (2 days before LMP date).

Dating scams are so technologically forward now that they are fairly in terms of gestational age but it doesn’t determine whether baby will be early or late.

My cousin was born 6 weeks early. Her birthday is 29th August. Aunt also planned dates around school year. Oops!

LMP 2nd Jan, EDD by dates was 9/10, scan pushed that back to 26/10, DD arrived 24/10.

If you are using online calculators be mindful to use one that takes into account your cycle length. I had a longer cycle than average so the 40 weeks woudn't be an accurate representation of when I actually conceived.

One day early, 6 days early, one day late. But don't get too hung up on the September thing. It's not the only factor in how well they do at school. I feel that my July born child has not had any disadvantage and my September born one has not had any advantage. If it is important to you, err on the side of caution and aim for October or November.

Take care - I massively screwed this up! Wanted a September baby - she came at 38 weeks on 31st August!

I conceived on December 31st and was pretty keen to give birth in Sept over August. My waters broke on September 1st (ds born on the 3rd).

Just out of curiosity if it doesn't work out in the first 3 months will you wait another year?
