Reduced movements, husband says I shouldn't worry

But I can't help it. My twin sister had a stillborn baby two years ago and it terrifies me that the same will happen to me.

I've hardly felt baby move this morning since waking up and usually it's going nuts in there first thing. My husband says I shouldn't worry and that I'm being paranoid as he felt it moving last night. But I'm scared.

I know my husband has plans today which he doesn't want to upset and I think that's why he's got so cross with me for mentioning it. If this was happening to anyone else I'd be telling them to phone their midwife, but my husband's reaction has got me questioning myself.

What would you do?

I'm 29 weeks btw (30 on Monday).

Phone your midwife or labour ward. Reduced movements should not be ignored.

Phone your midwife now. It is probably nothing but you absolutely need checked.

The fact you've noticed there is reduced movement is a cause for worry.

Phone your midwife now please.
Chances are all is well but any change or reduction in movements should always be checked.

But my husband got really really cross when I said I was going to... he hasn't need sleeping well with this weather, and I know he'll be pissed off with me if he wakes up and I've left to get checked out when I should be driving him around (he can't drive).

I agree with the others, definitely call and get checked out. It's probably fine but it's not worth risking it.

Well he can be pissed off then. Hopefully pissed off enough to book some driving lessons.

Call the midwife; I hope it's all ok Flowers

Have you tried having a cold glass of water and laying on your left side? If that doesn't produce movements then you definitely need to get checked no matter what your husband says.

Sod the husband.
Ring midwife, every change in what's normal for baby moving needs checking.

Bottom line your baby could die, ignore your prat of a husband and take yourself to hospital now. He can go off to his plans Hmm.

Ignore husband and get it checked out. Chances are everything is fine, but what if it is not? Would he really prefer you to drive him around rather than be checked out by the midwife?

Ignore 'D'H.. Have a cold drink, lie on your left side.. Wait for movements. If this does nothing, phone your local unit & head down to be monitored.

Seriously op sod your husband. Let him be pissed off or whatever. Just go this is more important.

Fuck him. Get yourself checked out. I hope everything's ok, you'll need the reassurance. I really hope DH is going to be more supportive and less selfish when the baby is here Flowers

Is this your first? Your DH needs to learn a lesson about the children coming first. This won't be the only time health concerns about the kids scotch plans he was looking forward to, so he had better get used to it...

Your husband sounds like a selfish prick. Is the always like this? Telling you to ignore medical guidelines just to make his life easier? Shock

Definitely do go and get checked out, it won't tale long and it will put your mind at rest.

Ignore your husband and follow your gut

Cold water, jump up and down and eat some chilli sauce.... that worked for me!

Good luck.

And deffo get checked out if you are worried. Your DH will have to suck it up I think.

Have some water and wait 20 minutes. If nothing, call your mw and ignore your dh

Don't panic - their sleep patterns Re erratic still at this stage. As the other s suggest have a drink- maybe something sugary - tea with sugar, orange juice wih ice in it, or even some cola, or something sweetish - and have something to eat. Phone the midwife for some guidance.
Have a lie down and see if you get any movements for a few mins.
Is the baby usually active at this time ?

EugenesAxe · 04/07/2015 07:45

I think he can hardly complain if you take steps to try and produce movement (cold water, or orange juice worked for a friend) and then go only if nothing happens. I was told babies movements are more restrained near the birth but I'm pretty sure they don't reduce in number.

Please get checked out OP.
Your H needs to accept that he doesn't come first anymore, your child does... And we're potentially talking about the child's life. He's a tad selfish it seems.
If he's that bothered he'll find another way to get to wherever he's going, although a DH would be coming to the hospital with you to be checked.

Please follow the advice given on here.
Your husband sounds like a real problem.
Do you have any other support for when you have your baby?
