I wondered what everyone else is doing with theirs?

Do I need to take it out for scans, and if so maybe I should just leave it out because it's probably not going to fit before too long anyway.

Plus I'm not sure there's any point having it when I've got a 'baby belly' that I might not want to show off anyway!

Your belly button will go completely flat and maybe even pop out by the end of your pregnancy. I think I'd be inclined to take it out as soon as your bump appears and then get it re-pierced when you've got your fab figure back!

i took mine out....THANK GOD ! My belly button looks like it spread. went totally flat and is now protruding out of my stomach.... I figuered I dont know what state my stomach will be in after The pregnancy and maybe the less attention the better mind you mine had been pierced for around 15 years !! and I was more than happy to take it out. Hi - I got mine removed as soon as I found out I was pregnant - I couldn't bear the thought of my tummy stretching and it sticking out and maybe even ripping out! I kept it as a keep-sake, a reminder of my heady youthful days Grin I don't know if I'll ever get it repierced though, I don't know how attractive it would be on my new 'mummy tummy'!

ShowOfHands · 30/03/2011 10:27

I left mine in. It was no problem at all. Never thought to remove it. They took it out as I was wheeled into the theatre for an emcs. I put it back in a week later.

LifeInTheSlowLane · 30/03/2011 10:29

I kept mine in until it got uncomfortable, and put it back in afterwards - I didn't have to get it repierced, it just went back with a bit of effort!! The midwife did mention the plastic thingies but I wasn't keen. I wasn't sure if I'd want to have it back in after pregnancy but thankfully I didn't get any stretch marks on my tummy so it looked ok (just got them everywhere else Angry)

I got my only stretch mark going up from the hole Sad

I took mine out as soon as I started to get a bump, IF i manage to get my figure back, I'll get it re-pierced.

I brought some pregnancy ones but ended up having to take them out towards then last few weeks. My belly button didn't pop out so much but the bar kept catching on my clothes. I didn't think id get it back in after she was born so didn't try it but when she was about 5 months i decided to see and it went it with almost no trouble at all

Try Pierced & Modified - I bought a plastic flex one from them & it's fab, currently 27+2 and no problems as of yet, comfier than a metal bar too!

OK well I had the 12 week scan this morning and the sonographer woman made me take it out and advised me to leave it out.

I can always get it redone and it won't do any harm to have a 'break' I guess.
