We’re looking for Mumsnet users with a child aged 8 to 12 to trial Prickly Bear, a platform being developed to help encourage children to learn by rewarding them in the games they love.
Here’s what Prickly Bear has to say: “Our kids, like most, spend quite a bit of time on screens, and rarely use their screen time for learning. Existing attempts to turn kids' attention to better content tend to fail, as kids decide what’s fun, not parents. Prickly Bear is exploring approaches to make families happier with screen time by embedding learning in games.
We are early on our journey to build a thriving community and platform that helps kids learn, and get rewards in the games they love. Our first experiment is simple, we are measuring the effect rewards have on willingness to learn. Kids are asked to complete a set of learning quests, and receive a gift card to use as virtual currency in their favourite mobile game.”
If you’re selected to take part, your child will engage with Prickly Bear’s learning platform on an iOS or Android mobile phone (or tablet) for up to two hours (though this can be spread across a week). After your child finishes the learning on Prickly Bear, they will receive a £10 gift card to use in Google Play/ App Store.
We’ll then ask you to share your feedback and feedback on behalf of your child via a survey and private thread. All testers who share their feedback will receive a £20 Amazon voucher as a thanks for their help.
If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here and we’ll be in touch if you’re selected.
Thanks
