We’re looking for Mumsnet users with a child aged 8-16 to test out the online tutoring platform GoStudent, in a subject of their choice. Selected testers will receive 4 private tutoring sessions in their chosen subject, to be used over the course of 4 weeks.

You can find out more about GoStudent here. Here’s what GoStudent has to say:

“The digital learning platform GoStudent was founded in order to tackle a fundamental problem in education: access to top teachers. This is why GoStudent's mission is to build the number 1 global school. By connecting students with their ideal teachers, we enable children worldwide to unlock their full potential. GoStudent offers individual tutoring classes via online video chat to primary and secondary students in all school subjects. Focusing on sustainable learning successes, GoStudent offers memberships between 6 and 24 months. GoStudent employs +500 people at its 12 international offices and operates in 18 countries. Monthly, over 350,000 tutoring lessons are booked.”

Selected testers will receive 4 private tutoring sessions in their chosen subject (RRP £70 - £107.60), to be used within a 4 week time period. Testers will need to sign up to the service as they would if they were a user. Please note that this may mean receiving communications from GoStudent while taking part in the trial. You can find out more about how the online tutoring sessions work here.

Interested in taking part? Please sign up by clicking here.

Please note that we’ll be selecting testers in groups, with the option to start the product test over the next three months.

After using GoStudent, selected testers will need to give their feedback via a thread on Mumsnet and complete a short survey. All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one tester will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

Just completed the survey. Really hope we get selected, as my DD is struggling with maths.

Takeitonthechin · 10/06/2021 12:42

Taken the survey, interested to see what online tutoring can do for my child if he is chosen

So I've just had a wisdom tooth extraction and it says don't eat spicy food..

I'm mixed Jamaican and Asian my regular everyday food has spices in it but not anything I would class as spicy. I have a pre made meal which is a curry chicken again I wouldn't say it's spicy but am I still not able to eat it ?

@BellaMumsnet

I have 4 kids in that age range (9, 11, 14 & 16).
I don't presume I can apply 4 times, can I?😁

Lilyput28 · 11/06/2021 09:22

Completed the survey. Fingers crossed!

AShadowLurkingInTheShadows · 11/06/2021 21:26

Done :) I'm home educating my 9 year old DS

MisgenderedSwan · 14/06/2021 06:42

Just completed. Fingers crossed as this is something we were looking at for dd over the school holidays anyway.

BellaMumsnet · 14/06/2021 09:56

@ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba Thanks for your question Smile We're sorry, but you cannot apply multiple times for this product test.

that's ok, thank you. it was a bit tongue and cheek (but I was actually curious).

I won't apply because we are in a fortunate position that MIL does a lot of tutoring, so having thought about it I'd rather someone else who has less resources got a chance.

Done
Really hoping selected for this as looks ideal for my daughter

KobaniDaughters · 16/06/2021 00:21

Have applied - we’re moving back to the U.K. after a decade abroad and am already looking for tutors to help get my kids up to speed with the British education system but have no idea where to start!!

Sometimesfraught82 · 20/06/2021 11:26

Would be good to know ASAP as summer holiday period gets booked up!

lawn · 21/06/2021 14:39

Any news on this please?

Norfolkbumpkin · 23/06/2021 12:03

I have signed up for this, as I am really keen to try using tutoring (considering online and in person) to get my son up to speed with English/Maths. This past year has created sizeable gaps in his learning!

LucyBMumsnet · 24/06/2021 09:39

HI @Sometimesfraught82 and @lawn,

We've just sent an email to the first group of testers who will be taking part in this product test. We'll also be selecting two more groups of Mumsnetters to take part in line with the availability each person provided when they signed up, so don' be disheartened if you haven't heard from us yet Smile

Lepetitpiggy · 24/06/2021 16:36

Really pleased to have been selected!

bonfireheart · 12/07/2021 22:10

Been selected, had first lesson, went well. How are others finding it?
I am always suspicious when something is good ha!

Likewise, good first lesson I think. Though tbh I left did pretty much leave ds to it but could hear he was engaging with the tutor and seemed positive and happy to have another session. I've not been contacted again since however....

I signed up for this and was selected. Turor was lovely and my daughter engaged well. However, the communication and app they use is a shambles. The app was all in german and the sound wouldn't work, so we had to revert to zoom. Arranged a follow up time with the tutor and was supposed to get a link/appointment through the sales team... Nothing so far and its been over a week. Quality of turoring = good. Processes from company = poor.

We've just selected another group of testers so do check your emails if you've signed up to take part Smile
