We’re looking for Mumsnet users to test Eedi Family with their child in years 6, 7 or 8*. Eedi Family is an online Maths learning platform that provides interactive maths lessons for children to build confidence in maths.

Here’s what Eedi has to say: “We believe that every child has the potential to thrive in maths given the right support. Using our experience of working with 15k+ schools, we want to help every child to build the skills and confidence to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Our new product, Eedi Family helps children safely practise maths at home and build confidence. With the power of data and a team of expert teachers, we’ve created conversational online lessons with a virtual learning companion that adapt to your child’s needs and align with the national curriculum.

Join us in trying an affordable alternative to private tuition that helps your child to try their best and want to keep learning.”

Selected testers will receive a one month free trial of Eedi Family, and will need to sign up to the service as they would if they were a user. Please note that this may mean receiving communications from Eedi while taking part in the trial. You can find out more about how the interactive maths lessons work here.

Following the trial, selected testers will need to give their feedback via a thread on Mumsnet and complete a short survey.

All testers who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £100 voucher for the store of their choice (from a list).

If you’re interested in taking part, please sign up here.

Thanks and good luck!

I just got emailed this and thought I'd sign up, but I'm Scottish and don't know what ages years 6, 7, and 8 might be.

Just thought I'd point that out in case you wanted to change the messaging to include age instead of year/class.

Yes, we will give it a go.

Thank you for the feedback :)

We have those terms because we've mapped our content order to the UK national curriculum. We understand that some regions or school may call things differently.

The equivalence is roughly:
Year 6: 10-11 years old
Year 7: 11-12 years old
Year 8: 12-13 years old

All the best, any other questions we are here for you :)

Fingers crossed we get chosen. My daughter would really benefit from something like this. She’s struggling since her transition to high school Sad

I'd sign up ordinarily. But since September, my Y8 DD has been snowed under with homework (maths and every other lesson). Presumably to catch up from the summer term.
She's doing about 2 hours every day, 7 days per week. I think she'd leave home if I tried to get her to do more work.

What happens if your DC loses interest (Happy to sign up but may be a challenge to get them to do all the extra work Grin?

Hi @herecomesthsun. Just passing on the following response from Eedi Family:

"Thanks for your question @herecomesthsun. It would be great to know why they lose interest and would love to hear ideas that they think would make their children more engaged. We are just starting, and we are exploring ideas such as gamification, rewards etc. So all feedback is good feedback." Smile

Yay we got picked!
Can't wait for my DD to trial this, she has lost confidence in maths since being off in lockdown, so hopefully this will help! Smile
Thank you!

Excellent, we've been picked. Now I need to persuade the children to actually do it! 😬😂

We've been picked and as DS is off school ill this afternoon, it seems the perfect time to start!
I've just signed up though (using the link in the email) and it seems to be for the 1 week free trial. I just wanted to check that it would last for a month? I didn't enter any card details.

I emailed & asked the same question, Here was the reply Smile

"Thanks for getting in touch. Eedi will apply the one-month free trial to each tester's account on Monday (23rd), so you should see this change come into effect at the start of next week. Apologies that this wasn't clear in my initial email. We will be sending another email to all testers within the next day to clarify this."

We’ve been selected- thank you- but I’ve just had a look at the initial practice quiz (for parents to look at beforehand) and it’s completely garbled on an iPhone.

Is it only useable on bigger screens, or a desktop?

Very happy to be selected, thankyou. Had the same issue as Gnarly with the practice quiz - doesn't work on an Android phone. Going to try everything again tomorrow on the laptop. Fingers crossed!
