This is the feedback thread for the 100 Mumsnetters who have been testing the new The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey range.

Here’s what The Body Shop have to say: “Many of us suffer from sensitive skin. Whether it’s experiencing stinging or tight itchy dryness to full blown break-outs, sensitive skin can be uncomfortable, distressing and sometimes unsightly and embarrassing. Although there is no known single cause of sensitive skin, it is thought to involve a combination of impaired skin barrier function, extra-sensitive nerve endings in the skin and intolerance to triggers. For many people cosmetic ingredients can trigger a reaction. Our protecting new Almond Milk & Honey Body Care range has been specifically formulated to comfort sensitive, dry skin. It’s been developed with a gentle fragrance that’s hypoallergenic - at last, you can enjoy some indulgent pampering without triggering a reaction. Enriched with nourishing organic almond oil from Spain and caring Community Trade honey from Ethiopia, the products are colourant-free, cream-based formulas, give up to 48 hour moisturisation and help to soothe, restore and protect your skin.”

Below are some questions, but please also give your feedback on the products in general and share your thoughts on each product.
1. How did the products make your skin feel?
2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

All those who give the required feedback will be entered into a prize draw where one MNer will win a £300 voucher.

Thanks and good luck!

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

All three left my skin really soft. I'd say the body butter was heavier and 'sat' on my skin for longer, whereas the hand cream soaked in really quickly, yet still had the same moisturising effect.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin? I don't know about calming, as I'm not really having a flare up at the moment, but they were definitely soothing, particularly over the bump (6 months pregnant)!
  2. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? Again yes, in particular the hand cream, which I really rate.
  3. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? Steer well clear! But this didn't react at all. I also tried the bath soak in my DD (gets a rash every other day) and the hand cream on DH (scleroderma and associated skin conditions) and neither had a reaction.
  4. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this? I loved the smell! It lingered, but not in an overpowering way.
  5. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? I don't religiously read the ingredients list, but I do have to buy fragrance free and hypo allergenic stuff for all of us.
  6. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream? The bath milk I think was the least appealing, although I did like it. It just didn't have the same power in terms as scent as the other two. The body butter I would, if you like that sort of thing. It does feel a little greasy for a while after application, though, but then I think this of all body butters. The hand cream certainly. In fact I'll probably buy some more once I run out of this one. I really struggle to find a cream that moisturises but doesn't make me feel slimy, and also I don't react to. But this one wins!

Thank you for letting me take part in this test. I really enjoyed this one!

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Fine. No reaction which is good.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

I'd say moderately so. The oercune was so overpowering I had to open the window Confused
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

A bit.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I use sanex zero which smells of nothing.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

WAAAAAY too strong. I ciukdnt use this full time it's headache inducingly perfumed. But then I am very sensitive to smells...
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Totally. This has a bit too many nasties in for my liking.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

My mum loved them so I gave them to her, and anyone who wasn't so pathetic about strong smells would really benefit from this range I think.

1, The body and hand cream made my skin feel lovely and soft. I get sore skin behind my knees and have seen an improvement after three days of use. I am addicted to the hand cream, it rubs in nicely and has a lovely subtle aroma.

2, Yes it has soothed the skin behind my knees which gets chapped in winter. It also doesn't sting when applied to sore skin like some creams can. My skin generally feels softer.

3, It is a little too soon to say yet but I have had promising results so far.

4, I normally use fragranced products but have to be careful. I usually use Lush products.

5, The fragrance is lovely and subtle and lingers for ages.

6, Yes one of my children has eczema so I am careful what I use.

7, I would recommend all the products to a friend.

I absolutely love these products. The bath milk is lovely and a little goes a long way for lovely milky water and bubbles. The body cream is a lovely texture and makes my skin feel lovely and I can't stop putting the hand cream on. The scent is really nice, not overpowering like some just a hint of almond and honey.

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Really soft and moisturised, although I found the body butter slightly sticky for a while after using it. The hand cream is amazing.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

Yes. I have a bit of psoriasis on my elbows and knees at the minute and the body butter really helped with that. Hand cream sorted out my dry hands and I'll definitely buy that again.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

Yes, especially my hands.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I normally use Dove as that's ok on my skin. I steer clear of the cheap brightly coloured ones.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

Yes the fragrance is lovely and lingers for a while on the skin.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Yes I am and prefer more natural ingredients where possible.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

Probably all of them, although the hand cream in particular is fab and I'll definitely be recommending that.

I would have preferred the bath stuff to be more of a milk oil as opposed to foaming but it made the water feel soft and didn't irritate
The body butter is gorgeous and not as thick/solid as some I've previously used. My skin still felt soft the next day
Hand cream - this is the star! I took it to work so me and 4 colleagues have tested it. All adored the smell and commented hands still felt soft after washing and really liked how not greasy it was. Feedback v v positive apart from "do they do a bigger tube?" Grin

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

Soft, and nourished and cared for. Like a soothing caress off a loved one.
  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

The hand cream is working wonders on my dry skin between my fingers. It's delicate and not heavy so I can use it and get on with my day without waiting for it to soak in. I have been using the body butter on a new tattoo that is currently healing and it's beautiful on it. So soft and gentle.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

My skin feels amazing. The biggest thing is that although it is so moisturising and like milk, it is light and airy and makes your skin feel free.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I tend to use ones that have coconut in or honey.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

The fragrance is scrummy! The honey really comes through in a mouth-wateringly yummy way.
  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Yes. I like products that are not tested on animals and that are kind to our world as well as our skin.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

I would definitely recommend these products to other people. I think they are amazing.

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

the hand cream seemed slightly watery and didn't have the impact that I hoped for. I have very dry skin on my hands from potty training my 2 yo, and I used it several times but it didn't have the moisturising effect that my lidl handcream has. The cream was watery, then felt slightly oily. I shared it with a group of friends, who all loved the smell but thought it was either too watery or too oily.

the body balm/butter stuff was amazing. gorgeous smell, great creamy feel, fast absorbed, good for massages! I love putting it on my feet.

the bath cream had the least scent, but was pleasant to use. Not a product I'd choose in store, usually prefer fresher fruitier things for baths.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

The body butter really did, with my feet/calves. My calves felt really soft actually. The hand cream did nothing for my dry sore hands.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

yes for the butter. I was v impressed with the body butter. Slightly so with the hand cream; it wasn't intense enough for my dry hands.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

yep, I'm not sensitive particularly, just dry-skinned
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

yes... but I prefer fruitier things if I'm choosing. Smelled a bit yoghurty, I suppose, not unpleasant, nice enough.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

not particularly fussy about ingredients; ds2 had excema for a while but he's grown out of it; I am careful with washing liquid for clothes, and use baby stuff on the 2yo, but I don't police anything. I did notice this handcream has a very long list of chemical ingredients.
  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

hand cream is a 5/10, it's OK
Body Butter a 10/10 would def. recommend.

Thank you for the chance of getting to try these.
Using the products I loved how the hand cream soaked into my skin straight away.
The body butter was obviously heavier. & I was nervous about using it on some of my skin which is suffering at the moment as it's perfumed but actually it went on well & has made a positive difference.
2 the body butter has definitely helped. I suffer from psoriasis & my chest is looking at lot less angry & broken over last 2 days.
The hand cream is just lovely to put on. Moisturise quickly & hands feel soft for a long time after.
I would say out if all products the body butter has worked best for me & left me feeling the most moisturised although hand cream a close second
I would always choose fragrance free
But I really liked this fragrance I thought it was light & not at all overpowering.
6 yes my 2nd dd suffers from really sensitive skin so I try to keep to products I know won't cause a reaction.
I would recommend all 3 of the products to family & friends. But if they could only have 1 product I would say the body butter has been fantastic for my skin

  1. How did the products make your skin feel?

lovely and soft, particularly the fab hand cream.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

the body butter was lovely on my pregnant belly and my scaly elbows and the hand cream was brilliant on my dry winter hands.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

yes, especially the handcream, I used a little on my dry tight cheeks as well which really helped. The hand cream sinks in super easily, did not leave my hands greasy at all and smelled lovely. I get really dry legs after shaving but bathed in the bath milk, shaved then slathered on the body butter and two days later my legs are still not itchy or dry

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I don't usually, I just use soap and simple body lotion for my hands cheeks and elbows.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

I wasn't too keen sniffing the bottle/tub as I'm not a big fan of honey but after use it left my skin smelling gorgeous I didn't need to wear any perfume.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?

Im not super aware, just use simple non fragranced things on my skin if any and dd just gets washed with soap.

  1. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

I would recommend them, especially the hand cream. Even dh has stolen it to use so we will be getting more.

My skin felt cared for and looked after. It felt less tight, less itchy. After a few uses it felt smoother and softer. My hands benefited lots from the handcream it wasnt too thick or greasy but was lovely and soothing.

Yes and you could see a difference after only a few uses especially on my hands.

I think it did and it was nice to use a bubble bath that foamed up lots of lovely bubbles and made a luxurious bathing experience which didnt irritate my skin,

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

Normally I steer clear unless i can guarantee it wont aggravate my skin, i miss fragranced products.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

It was lovely gave me a luxury bathing experience which i miss. It wasnt too overpowering in the body butter nor the handcream but lovely light scent.

1. How did the products make your skin feel?
The body butter made my skin feel moisturised.
The hand cream actively helped my sensitive skin feel better (and I used it during a coeliac-induced itch!)
The bath milk was good (it made a very good foamy bath too). My son also used it in his bath and it didn't irritate his skin which is very unusual.

2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Yes!

3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
I couldn't believe how much better my hands felt after using the hand cream. The body butter was nourishing for my skin but no better than other body butters. I am very happy that there is a bubble bath available for my son to use that won't aggravate his skin.

4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
I don't normally use a fragranced bath range. I do however use fragranced moisturisers etc. but only if they are dermatologically tested for sensitive skin and I have had the ability to test it myself i.e. in a shop or from a friend.

5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
I didn't love it, I could only really smell the honey, but it was pleasant. I think there could have been a better balance with stronger hints of almond combined with the honey.

6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Absolutely, yes. It particularly bothers me that when my children were babies I used Pampers Sensitive wipes on their skin and I later used the same wipes to remove tar from my hands. Now, I try to make sure that products I use on their skin are more natural and nurturing.

7. Please let us know if you’d recommend the following products to a friend: Bath Milk? Body Butter? Hand Cream?

Bath milk - I would recommend this if sensitive skin was an issue but it is expensive for normal bubble bath.

Body Butter: I probably wouldn't recommend this. It was less solid than usual body butter and didn't balance the scent very well.

Hand cream: I would recommend this as it really soothed my hands. It only required a very small amount to make my hands feel moisturised and smooth.

How did the products make your skin feel?
Extremely soft, and the feeing lasted more than other creams usually do.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?

My hands were red raw when I received these items so I was very keen to try ASAP. Most creams would usually sting upon application but the hand cream didn't do that. They certainly soothed them.
  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?

The cream did take a while to settle into my skin and felt quite claggy for a while, but it soon sunk in leaving them feeling moisturised.
  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?

I generally steer clear as my skin annoy handle synthetic fragranced bath cream or body cream. These were pleasantly sensitive.
  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?

I was very keen on the honey smell. I did t find it over powering, and kept sniffing my hands afterwards!

I'd definitely recommend the hand cream as it soaked in really quickly and didn't leave your hands feeling greasy at all. The body butter took a little longer to soak in and did leave me feeling a little greasy for a while, but I think that's the case for most body butters. The bath milk was nice and relaxing and had a lovely smell.

The bath milk was neither here nor there for me. It certainly didn't irritate my skin like some bath products can, but it was the least effective out of the three items. The body butter would definitely be recommended. I applied it straight after shaving my legs which could have brought me out in a sore rash but it didn't, it was calming and moisturising. The hand cream is a firm favourite with me! Makes my hands feel supple, smooth and moisturised but doesn't feel 'heavy' like some creams can.

1. How did the products make your skin feel?
Bath foam had the least impact on my skin. Didn't make it feel dry and had no reaction but didn't notice anything the other way either.
I buy lots of handcreams but always end up using Neutrogena as I love how intense and rich it is. This was a bit too light to take the place of that when my skin is really dry but I will definitely be keeping it in my handbag and buying again as it didn't leave my hands feeling greasy.
Body Butter was great. Nice and rich but didn't leave my skin feeling sticky. I judge body creams by how long I have to wait before I can get skinny jeans on my legs and I hardly had to wait at all but I could still feel it making my skin feel soft and moisturised.

2. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin?
Hand cream definitely did, but not sure how much difference it would make if I had a flair up of really dry skin on my hands.
Bath cream didn't seem to do very much but didn't leave my skin feeling as dry as it sometimes does after lots of hot baths.
Body butter overall made my skin feel great. Knees and elbows are my problem areas and elbows are completely soothed and knees definitely improved but still have scaly patches. Really like how rich it is, especially compared with other Body Shop body butters I have bought recently.

3. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products?
Overall, yes to the body butter and the hand cream but not hugely with the bath foam. Would have liked it to be a bit creamier.

4. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear?
Almost always use a fragranced range with exception of my knees and elbows which I used unfragranced Doublebase and Neutrogena hand cream when my hands are most dry but this is just because they work and don't happen to be fragranced

5. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this?
Yes, loved it. Didn't feel the bath foam was particularly strong tho. I would have liked to still smell it when I am out of the bath and drying.

6. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin?
Definitely for my child but less so with me as I tend to buy product based on skin type and see how it reacts.

The hand cream has worked miracles on my sore, tingling skin. I had tried l'occitane, vitiman e, sudocrem, loads of different ones. None helped at all. this was lighter than others but felt more nourishing and easily absorbed. Not at all greasy and no waiting for ages for it to soak in. The bath milk is equally lovely made my skin feel lovely and was really nice to soak in. My partner who has terrible skin from worked agrees all the products are really good. The body butter is really lovely after the bath/shower, a little awkward to get out but absorbed well and all pf them have a lovely fragrance.

  1. Did the products calm and soothe your sensitive, dry skin? Yes all of them worked really well, massive improvement in my sore irritated skin.

  1. Did your skin feel deeply moisturised and restored after using the products? Yes definitely all really good products. Really impressed.

  1. Do you normally use a fragranced bath & body range or steer clear? It depends on the product more than anything.

  1. Did you like the fragrance? What were your thoughts on this? I really liked it, at first I thought it was going to be too strong on first use. but once you have applied it , the scent is beautiful and very subtle.

  1. Are you aware & interested in what ingredients you put on a) your child’s skin? b) your skin? Yes and this was lovely on all our skins. I have been rationing it! As it is really nice.

Feedback:

  1. the product made my skin feel smooth and hydrated but no more than any other product really.
  2. the product did calm my skin, and the flakiness was definitely less.
  3. my skin felt moisturised, but I would say it was "deep". I still needed to apply at least once a day.
  4. I normally use E45 body lotion.
  5. I do like the fragrance. I normally go for fruity fragrances, but this was a pleasant change.
6a) I always use a child's range for shampoo, body wash etc. This is probably me falling into some marketing ploy though!
6b) I usually use E45 as in my head it is "medicalised" so good for you.
  6. I would definitely recommend the hand cream, it is a great size for your handbag. The lotion and body butter: they are ok but I didn't notice much difference from any other product really.
