Morning All
I'm going to try the 'January Cure' from the Apartment Therapy website.
There are other Mumsnet threads for previous years.
Anyone with me? Smile

I have just signed up! I'm planning to spend the next few days decluttering the bedrooms.

I'm feeling impatient waiting for the first email! Grin I might do the linen cupboard tomorrow, in anticipation Grin

I've signed up too. I do every year, along with the September Cure etc and never complete them Blush. I'll see how far I get. I'm going back to work in January after mat leave so it might be a bit difficult, but maybe I can use the weekends to catch up on the stuff that I don't manage in the week.

What day does it start? I guess the first Monday in January?

If I'd known there was a September one I would've just started that last week!
I'm pretty sure I won't complete it either. If I was that good at cleaning I wouldn't be planning a Cure Blush That's alright though. Smile I guess January 1st.

But I was on mat leav last year so had more time at home ... not sure how i’ll Manage to fit it all in this year.
I actually saved all the emails from last year and did the task from Day 1 last year (decluttering 1 drawer) last night.,, I was on such a roll I declutterers all the drawers and my kitchen Halo

Never heard of it before but just had a Google and signed up. Sounds like just what I need - I'm stuck of living in an untidy house!

Same - maybe as it’s a US site the emails are sent later in the day?

Must be. I'm in Australia. I can't get my head around what time that means I'll get mine!

Hi

The emails arrive after 13:00

Today's and the first few days will be deceptively simple

And seem to prompt thinking rather than doing

Don't get frustrated

Don't try to do too much

If you are bored start cleaning your floors
All of them , properly

Yes that's right the Whole house

It will give you a head start for the weekend

Really looking forward to it

For those who have never done the cure I suggest you need to free up time as follows

Monday - Thursday inclusive 30-45 minutes . Then stop ( this part is very important ! )

Weekend perhaps 2-3 hours per weekend ( I usually take Friday evening off )

If you don't work outside the home you may think the plan doesn't suit you

But it is possible to spend more time on the challenges

And it is possible to look ahead e.g. to the weekend andget started on that during the week

I ❤the January cure

Great info!! I'm not starting now as it's nearly 8pm here, but I will get the dyson out first thing in the morning.
And I will allocate a daily block of time for the cure.

Thanks Spider!

Maybe you can pick and choose the most important ones for your place, or spread it out over longer than a month. I think lots of people do that. You're very ambitious whereas I'm quite lazy. Good luck anyway :)

Yes Lilly

It helped me Massively in the past when the kids were young

If you want to change how you feel about your home : give it a go

Just decide you are not spending more than 20-30 mins on weekdays

And at weekends set a limit too

Xxxx

Hello all. I have signed up for this too. 2017 was a year of ill health due to knee problems/knee replacement surgery. I am much improved now and need to regain control of my neglected house. I am hoping to seriously declutter this year. Looking forward to the first email.

lilly Set up a dedicated folder in your inbox for the cure and file each day's email in there. Once you've done a task, delete the email. If you don't manage, just do it on another day. I'm going to do this and run the tasks over into February. I'm at my PiL for another week so can't get started anyway.

And yes the emails are sent out early US East coast time so land early afternoon if you're in Europe.

Has anybody actually completed the cure before? I'm curious to see how much if an impact it had if so.
