Would I be stupid to buy a glass desk (to be used by older dc)?

Apparently it is annelated glass so strengthened and is sturdy and heavy but I am not 100% sure. Is it likely to break?

I've stood on our glass Ikea glass coffee table, I'm about 12 stone.

(it's older than DD1 (14) has survived a trip in the removal lorry and two DDs).

So if it's a new desk from a reputable supplier I very much doubt it.

I should add that the Ikea coffee table was bought to replace a very flimsy wooden one. This exploded into horrible sharp pieces when DH accidentally steeped back off the sofa onto it.

I find glass too cold to work on comfortably. But game no reservations about safety :)
