Hi,
I was seen in the breast clinic last Thursday after finding a lump at the top of my breast accompanied by pain and tenderness which the GP was pretty sure was muscular but referred me to be sure. I got into a right state in the weeks before the appointment (single mum of 3, not long since we escaped abuse and set up a new life) and at the clinic the consultant also sure it was muscular. Had an ultrasound and yep, some lumpy bump of cartilage spotted, no concerns, ultrasound dude said it was nothing to worry about. He also pointed out a tiny cyst he saw elsewhere, an 'incidental find' which was about 3mm. Also not concerning and I was sent on my way with no follow up.
So obviously I have been massively relieved however this afternoon I have had two missed calls from a number which googling tells me is a generic outgoing number for my local NHS trust. No messages have been left and I can't return the call. It's not the same number I got the original call to make the clinic appointment. I am straight back into panic mode as now I'm convinced the scan has been reviewed and it's something sinister. I'm not awaiting any calls for anything else, been double jabbed etc. I'm unhappy that no message has been left because at least I would have some idea...I can feel my anxiety levels soaring and I'm so scared, maybe even more so than I was pre appointment.
Is this scenario likely? Do they review scans?
