Liver disease ? Panicking

Hi,

I'm 27 had my baby 4 months ago. We all caught covid over xmas and I turned yellow head to toe. It dissapeared when we recovered but jaundice in the eyes has made a strong comeback and been persistent for nearly a month.

Had bloods done last week which said my white blood cell count was low and my liver bilirubin levels are high. Ultrasound was ok. All other liver functions were ok.

I am now seeing a hepatologist next week to investigate further of what this could be. I'm so scared he mentioned liver disease to me and I'm freaking out. I havent drank in nearly 3 years. I drank nearly every weekend as a teenager but I've been super healthy the past 3 years.

Does anyone know if these are the main symptoms?

Thanks

I had something like this and it was a couple of months after I had my DS. I had repeat bloods for a while and it just resolved. No one really knew why and what it was but I've been fine since.

I have Gilbert’s syndrome ( only picked up after blood tests for something else) when I’m run down ; so especially after giving birth I get jaundice . Very common - I’m a member of a love Gilbert Facebook group where there’s loads of us so could well be something like this , Doesn’t impact me bar the yellow eyes really

@TheChaser @wagnbobble thank you both Smile this has made me feel a little better. It's the constant yellowing that's scaring me and reminding me it's there every day Angry

Look up Gilberts Syndrome. Sometimes the liver is unable to cope with an excess in hormones such as puberty /pregnancy and so cannot cope with the breakdown of red blood cells whose by product is Bilirubin .The excess bilirubin is then secreted into the tissues and results in jaundice : a yellowing of the skin and whites of the eyes.My son developed this in puberty and is on and off a little yellow but otherwise he is healthy.

I also have Gilbert’s and also constantly have low white blood cells so I’m not sure if there’s a link
