How is your diet? I've heard if you have vitamin deficiencies it can cause a low WBC. What has your GP said? My partner had several blood tests with this showing but the doctors were not concerned unless it dropped really low.

It wouldn’t be great with having 3 young children I just found it difficult to stay on tract with eating well , the gp seems to think it’s maybe just me and all my other bloods seem fine I’m just scared living with anxiety is terrible to

Mine has been low for at least 6 years (I had another blood test only last week to check my iron levels and my wbc - specifically neutrophils- are still low.) I also suffer from health anxiety so it’s caused me no end of worry, but I spoke to the GP yesterday about my iron levels and he didn’t even mention the wbc (I actually only realised they were still low when I looked at my online results today) so I’m trying not to worry about it too much. I guess the ranges they quote are just averages and some of us will therefore be above or below those figures.

@le0pardqueen my son has low neutrophils and I've been feeling sick with worry. What figure is yours if you don't mind me asking? His first blood test was 1.6 and the second 1.4. The GP said she wasn't concerned but has referred us to a pediatrician as a precaution. I've been waiting 6 weeks to speak to someone and have finally got a telephone app on Monday

Mine have been low. They have also dropped a bit further during pregnancy. My sister is the same! We think it's genetic.

I do understand the worry as no one has given me an adequate explanation yet..

@flygirl767 mine is 1.1 and the reference range starts at 2 but I’m not sure if the range would be different for children? It’s good that your GP has referred you and hopefully you’ll get some peace of mind on Monday. Let us know how you get on.

Thank you, I will do. The range also starts at 2 for children (DS is 13). DH has also had low readings in the past (and was told they were not an issue) so it is possible it might be a genetic thing but it is best to check. Not sure if they can do much at the moment but it will be good to chat to an expert.

When you have health anxiety, the last thing you need is unusual blood test results! I would imagine that as you have had yours for so many years, that is just the way your are. Hope you sort out your iron levels x

@flygirl767 I think it’s probably quite common judging by the number of people on various social media forums who have also had low counts but yes it’ll definitely be good for you to have a professional put your mind at rest.

Guys I went to the hospital and it was put down to either the fact that I’m mixed race or possibly because my iron levels do drop from time to time !
