We're building on our walking habits for October and adding in a positive new diet habit for November.
Tell us your goal and check in to let us know how you're getting on!

I'm on 12k steps and 6 fruit and veg - going to try to sneak in one more crudité before bed. My life is very glamorous.

That's a lot of steps! Dinner sounds delicious, will you be adding in a food goal, or sticking with the walking?

Thanks for the new thread Alice

My goal for November is maintain 10k steps(today done almost 12k)

Also to up my fruit & veg intake. I've not managed that today (unless raspberry trifle counts as one of your 5 a day)

Been out to the cinema & watched Dr Strange with DH tonight- it was excellent. I do rather like Benedict Cumberbatch phwoar

Looking forward to your company Wrath! I'm aiming to reduce my snacking, such a bad habit.

I have managed 11k steps but nowhere near my veg target! I think I've only managed one, with dinner, after just having a toaster for lunch! I'm going to try for a couple more as my evening snack, but as an exercise in raising my awareness, today has been eye-opening!
How are the rest of you doing?

Toastie rather, though a toaster might have been a good source of minerals.

Steps done and I managed my 5 a day but you're rightAlice I have to practice mindful eating rather than mindless snacking. I know my diet is hit and miss.

I eat reasonably well for a bit and then revert to bad habits.

All my walking is easier because I enjoy it. Plus I'm visiting hospital quite a bit and that involves loads of walking and stairs.

How's your dad T0ld? I'm okay if I plan carefully and do a weekly online order but if I leave it to chance, or pop to the shop then all bets are off. Onwards and upwards today, I'll aim for a bit of fruit at breakfast st least.

Alice he's getting fed up in hospital, they've just started him on treatment and we're hopeful he'll be able to come home perhaps as soon as next week. He seems to be responding well to the meds. Thank you for asking.

10k steps today but not had enough fruit/veg.

I can sympathise, some people like institutions but I'm a homebody. I'm glad things are improving.
I've done 9k steps and hit my fruit and veg target. I'm really pleased. I had cut up raw veg on the counter in the kitchen and grazed on them for four servings!

That's great, Alice.

I've had a better couple of days. Yesterday I managed to walk at work, giving me 6K steps, and I was able to control my snacking better. Then DP bought in cherry pie & ice-cream for dessert & it all went a bit wrong!

Today I walked DS up to school so was at 5K steps by 9am. I've done much better with the snacking, mainly as I've been too busy! Am at 10.5 K steps, the first time in over a week.

I like the idea of mindfulness & snacks - how does that work? I really need to change my habits, as my meals are fairly good, but I snack a lot.

I definitely boredom snack, the old advice of being prepared with healthy snacks works for me to an extent.
I think mindfulness in relation to snacking is concentrating on what you're eating, the taste, texture, noticing each mouthful. Easier said than done, I definitely derive a certain pleasure from scoffing mindlessly.
To be honest that's why I've chosen a goal that is about adding in nutritious foods as I'm terrible at restricting.

Cherry Pie & Ice cream, what a lovely DP you have Sauvignon & at least it included one of your five a day.

I'm getting on OK with my steps -10k steps yesterday & today. Not so good on the fruit/veg side though.

I might try your trick Alice of having healthy snacks already cut up.

Yesterday was 9k steps despite the horrendous weather! Lots of these were inside decluttering.
6 portions of fruit and veg, not too bad.
Well done again T0ld.

I got to 9K steps yesterday - so easy when I'm off work & walking to/from school. Am about to walk to the shops & back (2K) child-free. It's a crisp, autumnal, sunny morning here so hoping to get out & walk later today, somewhere in proximity of a toilet for DD! Grin

I've walked into town and got some bits, asked DH to collect me in the car as I had stuff stuff to carry & it's up hill on the way back. A lovely 20 minute walk into town centre.
5.5k steps already, taking DH for a hospital appt & visiting my dad at the same time today so I'll be well on target. (I'm surprised that they do outpatients on a Saturday)
Dog walk later depends on the weather but will have to be in daylight because of bonfire night & loud bangs.
