What do you eat for breakfast - and where are you from?

I suffer from inspiration failure over breakfasts so am curious what people eat and what they were brought up with.

My DM had Scottish parents (but did not live there) She ate porridge with butter and salt, or mince and peas on toast.

DF grandparents were Russian and they usually had bread with butter and sausage/ fish

I grew up mainly with toast and butter and a glass of milk.

We have usually toast with jam/ nutella or eggs.Rarely to never cereal and pancakes at the weekend. School days DS very often has a ham sandwich in the car as we have a 40 minute drive to school.

Just curious really as I am thinking of making French toast today and realised I have never ever made it in my life!

Typically tea and toast, with an occasional fry up. Its odd that breakfast is the one meal where you can eat the same thing day after day, but you'd rapidly get bored if you did the same thing for dinner and tea (or luncheon and dinner if you're posh)?

Toast with butter/jam/Nutella
Cereals with milk
Porridge
Full English
Bacon/sausage/egg sandwich
Omelette
Whatever takes our fancy really
DD1s favourite is a mini fry up (she is 2!)
DD2s favourite is porridge and a pot of fruit (she is 10 months)
We are from U.K.

I'm a Londoner but Irish family background.

My granny always had porridge with salt

My mum is a very slender, fit 70 yr old and has only ever had one slice of toast with butter and marmite for her breakfast Grin.

I have porridge with honey if I want something warm, Greek yoghurt with honey and fruit if not.

We are British but live on the French/German border and that influences our choices.

Sundays we pick up deathly baked croissants and pain au chocolats.

In the week we have hot rolls with cheese. Or smoked salmon with dark rye bread or weetabix with chia seeds and berries.

Occasionally we will have a full English as a treat but only of we have managed to get British sausages!

Poached eggs and streaky bacon on a Saturday, though!

During the week toast, porridge, yoghurt and fruit with oats in, eggs lots of eggs as we have got too many hens. I don't like cereals much apart from oats and no sugar alpen.

Weekend poached eggs and roasted tomatoes on toast, or something homemade like crumpets or Danish pastries if we are staying at home, full English occasionally.

DH makes banana pancakes with bacon and maple syrup for him and DD - not my thing.

Yorkshire.

I've never been a breakfast person. When I was at school I ate one slice of very lightly toasted bread with two biscuits (whatever was in the biscuit tin). These days I rarely have breakfast but if I do it tends to be a crumpet with jam, peanut butter or cheese. I sometimes have antipasti on crumpets or toast, or of I have homemade bread I'll have a lump of that with balsamic vinegar.

My favourite treat breakfast is crunchy nut cornflakes with custard...

From Australia originally, and cereal is our default breakfast. I like muesli type cereals and the rest of the family likes weetabix, cornflakes, etc.

Lately I've been having a homemade 'egg mcmuffin' where I have a fried egg and slice of cheese on a toasted muffin. Very yummy.

I have toast with marmite, and a second breakfast of muesli later. From UK and that's what I ate as a child. Dh has bread, olive oil and honey (north africa). Kids like either of those but often have porridge with honey.

I've just eaten a bowl of leftover cheesy pasta and peas if that helps. As a teen I often ate leftover bolognaise / chilli / pizza for breakfast, or a potato with cheese done in the microwave.

More normally nowadays I have porridge with a ton of sugar or toast with butter / jam / peanut butter etc and tea. Bacon butties and eggs or a full English tend to be a lunch thing for me.

I grew up in New Zealand, however my father was British.

Breakfast during the week is cereal (either musli or cornflakes) with yogurt.

Weekends are generally toast or Chelsea buns. On the odd occasion (birthdays etc) we have pancakes.

Never had a cooked breakfast (ie a full English etc) or eggs once growing up and I still don't now even though I live in the UK, which Dh thinks is most bizarre.

I don't eat a full English often. I like the sound of smoked salmon and dark rye.

I guess I grew up with eating breakfast on the run so never give it all that much thought. I like warm rolls and cheese.

I'm in a rut, a boring rut!

North west. Either an omelette or BLT/B&E S/wich variation.
I never eat cereal.

On weekdays usually a green smoothie (sometimes very green, sometimes more a dessert smoothie with a handful of spinach chucked in). On the weekend it's usually brunch at a cafe, so something like smashed avocado or occasionally French toast/hot cakes.

I'm usually not that hungry early in the morning, hence the drinkable meals and late weekend breakfasts, but if I am very hungry I just eat more of a lunch/dinner meal eg. pasta or curry. Leftovers usually.

I grew up with cereal or porridge. Rarely eat either now.

It's really bad but I don't eat breakfast during the week. I just don't have the taste for it. On Saturdays I have marmite on buttery toast, and Sunday I have a full English.

Grilled kipper and scrambled egg
Spinach, feta, egg and kipper bake
Omelette
Eggy bread with veggie bacon and beans
Porridge with blueberries

Plain yoghurt, fruit & low sugar granola or muesli (can make ahead / take to work)
Scrambled eggs & tinned tomatoes if I have time. Sometimes with rye bread.
