At the moment I have an Apple Watch (original series) and I'm looking to update it. I've had a look and honestly I'm baffled. I do like the connectivity of my Apple Watch with my iPhone, but sometimes I do get tired of having messages pop up on my wrist when I'm doing other things.

What I'd like is something that:
Lets me track exercise classes (e.g. BodyCombat/Pump)
Has an accurate step counter for things like outdoor walking/running
Has some way to recognise yoga
Is reasonably good looking/not too massive (I have small wrists)
Ideally has built in GPS for outdoor runs but that's not totally essential as I usually have my phone nearby.
I'd ideally like to spend under £200, but would get another Apple Watch if that was the best for what I need.

I'm not too bothered about whether it's Fitbit/Garmin or someone just saying "Just get a new Apple watch", so please wise Mumsnetters, what works for you!

I don't believe there's such a thing as an accurate step counter. Sorry, I just guffaw at that. They are all rubbish at getting a true step count.

If you get something with GPS you can at least get reasonably accurate distance travelled.

How recognised do you want the yoga to be?
My fitbit recognises kayaking as 'active minutes' but doesn't call it kayaking.
I'm not sure any tracker will call the yoga activity 'yoga'.
Whereas my fitbit can figure out & correctly label types of cycling, running, walking.

Recognised in the sense that at the moment, I could open a workout, select "outdoor run" with an open goal and it live monitors my HR/distance covered/time elapsed/Calorie estimate, and I click "end" when I'm done. But there isn't a preset for e.g. BodyPump which is weight based rather than cardio, or yoga like I mentioned.

Don't get a Garmin Vivosport. I thought it was perfect for me as its slim, has gps etc etc - until I damaged the strap after 18 months and found that you can't replace it at all Angry and it was a write off

I have Garmin forerunner 35. Looks good, smaller than other Garmins, relatively cheap too. And waterproof. I don't think it can recognise yoga by itself, but you can put in the app what you were doing. Has in built GPS and connectivity - but again you can choose what notifications to get.

Garmin vivoactive 3, accurate step count, records yoga as yoga, outdoor runs, swimming, weights etc, I love mine!

I have a Galaxy Active, the one without the surrounding on the rim of it.

It does all of the things you've listed. I absolutely love it

I’ve got yoga on my Apple Watch

I think recognising yoga is the tricky bit - I can't think of any tracker that specifies it.

Garmin Fenix would do everything else you want (but above budget) so perhaps Instinct or 945 instead.

I have the bog standard 35, well under your budget and (probably) not sleek enough, but does everything you want except yoga (though you could use 'cardio' for that)

Yeah, my Apple Watch does all that (series 2, or possibly 3. Can't remember). You can always silence the notifications?

Is there an app that would track your yoga? I have just bought an Apple Watch, I do Beachbody on Demand and they have an app which tracks your cals depending on which workout you do.

Garmin vivoactive 3 music. It does all you said including swimming. And if you have Spotify premium then you can listen to music without a phone.

The garmin has a yoga mode too.

Fitbit Versa 2. No built in GPS but if you aren't bothered about that it does everything else. Built in GPS costs more.

Oh and if you do decide to stick with AppleWatch, they just dropped the price of the series 3. Should be around your budget.

For yoga would a Fitbit on each limb work by taking the average calorie count.

It just kind of misses the point.

Ommmmmm.....
