Shall I just stand in the street holding a glass of wine in the air, and blow on a whistle?

Gawd bless you. It sounds HORRIBLE. I imagine I would have committed suicide if it had happened at my school, and murder if it had happened at my daughters'. I might even use a SWEAR WORD when describing it.

yes, swear words necessary.

What I can't get my head around at all are the fact that there are other mothers who seem to think the whole idea is brilliant and fun and wonderful.

what is "the birthday table incident"?

No I can't get my head around that either FIS

It's just too bizarre

How can grown women think this is ok? It's like they know NOTHING about children

Yes but those mothers were part of the popular gang when they were in school, they were the 'Heathers'.
How can parents have such a lack of empathy?

I'd never heard of it before that thread, is it commonplace? They don't do it here.

I don't know.

The only reason I can come up with is that they are so far up their own children's backsides and are part of a parental group that means they KNOW their child will always get invited to these things so they don't really think about the ones that are left out.

They are like the parents who stand at the front of the hall at the time for the farking Christmas extravaganza and take videos - you know the type - as long as me and my child are all right jack, the rest of you can bugger off.

Still bloody disheartening to think that so many people like that exist though.
