Max spend is £10 today as we have lots of legal forms to fill in. To save on postage we are hand delivering it all. But will need to pay for a carpark & then we are having Cornish ice creams as treat with DS. And a woodland walk. I doubt we will spend £10 - more like £5.

There is 5 weeks in Sep and my dh gets paid weekly so we are going to try save one whole weeks wages over the month

Our extended family are trying to organise a trip to see Santa for all the dc together, it is eye wateringly expensive but we have fab memories of all of us going together last year and as we all spend Christmas in our own houses it's our kind of Christmas celebration together. We go for a meal first also. Have ye found a house? Did I miss that?

Argh I desperately need to join and start having accountability I followed these threads a few years ago and was almost debt free with exception of mortgage then DS7 F transpired to be a twunt, left me with a more debt and committed to building works on the house. Fast forward to now-house is complete and I love it but it had to be partially funded with a loan and CC, in a lovely new relationship and have punted all Xs debt back to him - yay!

Now I need to be more accountable and get the debt down - scared to tally it up but will do and come back with breakdown later-all words of wisdom to get me organised very welcome!

Spendy day today - it's DSs 7th birthday so getting him from school and heading to a new play area that just opened yesterday along the road from us. Some birthday tea for him (snack for me as will eat with DP later when DS goes to his Fs) and will invest in an annual pass at £30-will get loads of use out of it being so local so feel it's a good investment...

I can't believe I was looking at Santa bookings last week too lilac Think we're going to give Hever Castle a go this year. The castle always looks beautiful at Christmas and I think this year will be the first year DC1 (will be nearly 4) will properly start remembering it.

sierra we are in ROI we went to Bunratty castle last year, it was magical. They don't have much availability at the weekends though and we're annual leave poor in our house this year so we're thinking of Alliwee Caves which is supposed to be even better, but is more expensive. Last weekend in November is €10 cheaper per child so we're going to try get a booking for all of us that weekend. 9 children & 8 adults is €344 that weekend or €434 another weekend

Can I join? I'm not a frugal person by nature but have recently started keeping a much closer eye on how much we spend and found we can save loads each month with a bit of self restraint. Finding it a bit soul destroying at the moment though so could do with a bit of encouragement

Paid dds gymnastic today 30£, new gym shoes 10£, dh bought some kind of kitchen tool which was 50£, he's a nerd in a kitchen and also a chef so the stuff he gets is always expensive.

Please may I join? I was always so good with my money, had no debt, never had an over draft or credit cards, could put a hit aside every month (I do mean a bit though - maybe £30) and then...

I was kicked out of my home with my DP and ended up single a year and a half ago, had to live in a caravan for five months then relocate. Now Im on maternity leave with 4month old DS (who I adore) and am drowning in what I feel is a lot of debt. I have an overdraft, two credit cards at their limit and a credit card agreement thing with a catalogue and £500 ish maternity pay I need to be more accountable and save like a fiend

duchess the meal planning and thinking about money a lot lessens as you get used to budgeting your money. In the beginning it used to take me ages to sort what to pay first or what to do when I got my wages, now pay day doesn't even excite me much as it's a means to paying down my debt sooner not an excuse to spend. It also helps as you begin to know some of the curve balls life will throw at you eg tyres need replacing, vet bills, doctor visits(eg winter brings on my ds's asthma),

Welcome twllbach congrats on your ds! You've been through the mill but at least you don't have your head in the sand. Important thing now is communicate with your creditors, could you pay just a minimum amount to some of them until you return to work? Have you a place to live now?

Hello new folk, lots of advice and support here and absolutely no judgement. We all have different incomes and different reasons for being here.

£18 spends today on pack up items for lunches for the rest of the week as I didn't have much of this type of thing in over summer.

Also filled up with petrol, but that was budgeted for.

Duchess, your meal planning doesn't have to be all singing and dancing. Try to include a couple of cheap meals a week, such as jacket potatoes and toppings and omelette and salad, and make something that will do for 2 nights. Then you only have 3 nights to think about. If you have receipts for your more random spends that catch you out, could you divide them by 13, to get a rough idea of how much to budget for each per month? Some of our posters have monthly pet plans that seem great value too.
