How long after exposure were you LFT positive?

Kids’ dad came over yesterday morning for a couple of hours. I didn’t have much close contact with him, although we were sat in the same room for a bit. He played with DD , 2 years.

Yesterday afternoon a couple of friends he saw on Saturday contacted him to say they had tested positive. He immediately took an LFT and it was positive 🤦🏼‍♀️.

I did an LFT on myself and DD yesterday and again this morning and we are currently negative.

I know no one can tell me how long it might take for us to show positive but just curious in hearing others’ experiences.

So how long after exposure were you positive on an LFT?
Thanks!

I have friends (different households) who had positive DC’s. The rest of the family never tested positive on LFT but did test positive on day 5 & day 8 PCR tests.

With OMICRON the exposure to infection is meant to be much shorter - like 2-3 days

Bizawit · 15/12/2021 11:39

Interesting- Thanks for responding. I guess I should also get us a PCR.

For my Dp last week it was 3/4 days after exposure! He had close contact on the Wednesday. Negative lft's and a negative pcr up until the Sunday when he got a strong instant positive on lft - only 24 hrs after negative pcr. It can change quickly!

But it's not omicron as far as we know. We all have it. Neither of us or the person Dp caught it off has been told it's omicron.

Five days with delta

AD80 · 15/12/2021 11:45

It did however take me a week to catch it off Dp!

I was at a gig last Wednesday evening. No symptoms and negative lateral flow tests until Sunday evening. Started with a runny nose and a bit of a sore throat so done another lateral flow test which came back positive. PCR confirmed positive on Monday. Feels like a cold for me, I'm feeling quite congested.

BluebellsGreenbells · 15/12/2021 13:58

Wednesday lunch time positive Saturday evening.

Fifipop185 · 15/12/2021 14:02

Omicron for me - went out Friday, symptoms Sunday and positive LFT Monday morning, confirmed by positive PCR Tuesday. It has all happened really quickly.

Crapslattern · 15/12/2021 15:52

Average with delta is 4 days, I've heard anecdotally.

Omicron apparently quite a lot quicker.

Eightandahalfyears · 15/12/2021 15:53

Never. Had lots of contact with cases but have LFT and PCR’d left right and centre and have never tested positive.

ElleGettingBetter · 15/12/2021 15:55

5 days with Delta.
