Hi all, just wanted some opinions really on the name Zeph/Zephaniah? I know it’s really unusual but other half loves it. Our first son is called Jax so we wanted something that was similar. We also love Tate… thoughts?

I prefer Tate and think it goes better with Jax, although Zeph is okay. Not keen on the full Zephaniah

I know a Zeph which is short for Zephyr, which I prefer to Zephaniah

I like Zephaniah.

How is it similar to Jax? They are names that are completely different from each other.

Prefer Tate. Jax & Zeph sound a bit like a fuel company too me (don’t know why).

Zeph is nice but the not the longer version. I think it goes well with Jax.

The only connection I can make is to Benjamin Zephaniah, and that's a good connection.

If you say 'Jax and Tate' it sounds like 'Jackson Tate'. I suppose that's going to be true of any name and Jax but particularly true of a surname-name. Could just day Jax second I guess but seems natural to say the older child first.

But Zephaniah is an ancient biblical name and Jax is a very modern invention, so that’s why they look odd to me. Tate goes better.

I like state. Zephaniah is a lot of name, especially next to Jax.

I LOVE Zeph/Zephaniah but I'd say it's very heavily religious name and not one that someone would usually choose if not religious, so something to consider. Maybe Zephyr, as a pp said, would be better if you're not religious. I also am not sure how well it goes with Jax. I mean, Zephaniah is long, ancient and from scripture and Jax is very modern and short. I thinn Tate goes better with Jax, although I do prefer Zeph.
