Strong girls' names

I'd love to ask for your thoughts on strong girls' names. I'm not madly keen on the Poppy/Millie/Esme girly names that are popular at the moment, and would like something strong and elegant.

(Not much to ask!)

We are adopting and never thought that we'd have the chance to name a child ourselves, but it's looking like we're about to be matched with a young baby whose name the social workers will advise us to change for security reasons (if we are lucky enough for the match to go ahead Smile)

Many thanks!

For some reason I always think Z names sound strong like Zoe, Zara and Zareena. Also think Sadie, but that's because I know one who is particularly strong!

Good luck with everything. I hope it works out for you. Flowers

Rachel, Ruth, Hazel, Frances or Faye?

What sort of names do you like? I like solid girls names (nothing that ends in ie, y, belle). Is that the sort of strong names you're after?

If you are choosing a new name for security reasons, might it be wise to pick something from the popular end of the spectrum to help that. Find the 100 most popular girl's name list for last year on the INS site.
