To ask how I do a CC Balance Transfer?

I did post in the money section early this morning but haven't had a response and I want to get acting on this asap.

I have £3,000 on a Barclaycard that I wish to transfer over to a 0% interest card. I've found a good deal, however it doesn't tell me how much I can borrow? Whether I can transfer the whole £3,000. Is there any way of finding this out before applying?

Also, I was going to pay off £1,000 of my credit card this week, but would I be better off waiting until I've moved it to the new card??

Sometimes you can do a calculator thing online which tells you how much you're likely to be able to borrow.

I usually apply for card, once received you can do an online transfer or telephone transfer and that's it done.

When you fill in the application for the new credit card it will ask you if you want to transfer a balance and how much you want. It really depends on your credit history whether they'll give you the £3k, but since another card already gave you that limit I would imagine they might. If you're getting an interest-free deal, would you be better using the £1000 to pay off more expensive credit you have? If that's your only credit account, I would pay off the £1000 first then apply asking to transfer £2000.

WR to the £1000 I would pay that off first as you pay a % of the BT fee, so it will be less if you're transferring £2k rather than £3k.

Thank you both, that's really helpful.

No, it's my only debt so I'd like to chuck the £1,000 at it really. I'll do that tomorrow then and then apply for the CC. Hopefully I can get one for 2k. A lot of them seem to be for £1,200 and the like.

OP I'm obsessing about cc debt at present Grin

I decided to just pay the full amount when I get paid this month (dammit, so many things I want to buy)

Definitely second money saving expert, you can check out transfer balance cards without affecting your 'score'
