She keeps asking for one and they're hideous lol.
She's only 5 years old but got some money from a relative and now is going on about buying one.

She also wants a belly top- I've told her to ask her dad Grin

Yeah, YABU.

There's no sensible moral objection- you just don't like them.

I'm not keen on belly tops tho either.

FauxFox · 22/07/2017 08:14

She's 5. It's an overpriced bow. Let her spend her money on it If it will make her happy.

littlewhitething · 22/07/2017 08:15

Wtf is a jojo bow?

MrsPicklesonSmythe · 22/07/2017 08:16

I love bows but Those ones are horrible admittedly, there are other similarish much nicer ones you could compromise on if you really can't bear them. YABU b

araiwa · 22/07/2017 08:17

Shes buying her own

iwouldgoouttonight · 22/07/2017 08:17

And what's a belly top?

I don't like jo jo bows either but if it's her money I'd let her buy one.

unlimiteddilutingjuice · 22/07/2017 08:17

YABU
It makes little difference to you but would mean a lot to her.
The best thing about young kids is the absolute joy you can give them from relatively simple things. Let her enjoy it.

MrsMoastyToasty · 22/07/2017 08:18

Our local branch of the Entertainer toyshop has reduced them . I think the fashion is on it's way out.

Polomintini · 22/07/2017 08:20

I would say no...those bows are truly hideous. No to belly tops too, very irresponsible fashion for such young kids

RedHelenB · 22/07/2017 08:20

It A a dad and once everyone has bought at least one something else will take place! YABU

WatchingFromTheWings · 22/07/2017 08:20

And what's a belly top?

Cropped top.

HerLadySheep · 22/07/2017 08:20

I agree, they are utterly ridiculous but when I was young I wanted to have the same as everyone else (ra ra skirts for I am old!) and a big hair bow won't do her any harm.
She will look like a big Easter egg but she'll be happy!

Rainybo · 22/07/2017 08:20

There are reduced ones in Claire's at the moment for £4. Let her have one OP!

BrieAndChilli · 22/07/2017 08:21

Let her spend her money on it.they are over priced and over sized but for them it's about having the same as everyone else. DD 9 wears hers most days!!

PaintingByNumbers · 22/07/2017 08:21

Whats the big deal for a few quid versus her pleasure? If you can afford it, why not?

wtffgs · 22/07/2017 08:21

I loathe them but they're harmless.

Crop tops OTOH are not suitable for little girls - with you on that one.

WhichJob · 22/07/2017 08:22

I hate them too but let DD, 8, spend her own money on them. It is what her own money is for surely?

PandoNoPants · 22/07/2017 08:23

I don't like them either but DD (also 5) likes spending pocket/birthday money in Claire's accessories Grin ..it makes them happy. She bought some colour glitter hairspray, we are doing that today apparently!

Therealslimshady1 · 22/07/2017 08:25

Just let her

squoosh · 22/07/2017 08:28

Don't be such an accessories grinch and let her buy the bow. Yes they're ridiculous looking but so what. She has the rest of her life to be tasteful, let her revel in the tacky while she's young. I suspect your real objection is that strangers will assume you're a fan of the Jojo aesthetic yourself Wink

SnickersWasAHorse · 22/07/2017 08:30

Crop top, no way but I don't have a problem with the bow. I don't like them, but I don't have a problem with her spending her own money on it.

I agree with a pp, it's like any fad. I too am old and wanted a puffball skirt.

When she is older she will remember spending her money on this bow and also remember that it was just a sodding bit of ribbon on a hair clip. It won't do her any harm and might help her to realise that fads are stupid.

RainbowsAndUnicorn · 22/07/2017 08:30

YABVU, the money given to her is hers to spend as she likes and not for you to control.

It's a hair bow and she wants one like her friends. Why would you deny that? It not like she came home asking for a tattoo.

Don't be a party-pooper. It's fun! My 9 year old has several 'fake' JoJo Bows and wears them every day. I'll be treating her to a genuine one before we descend on Blackpool in October to see JoJo perform at Slimefest Grin

metalmum15 · 22/07/2017 08:33

Jojo bows are hideous but they're not doing any harm. Amazon have many nicer, cheaper and smaller alternatives.

gamerwidow · 22/07/2017 08:35

Let her have one it's her money she should be able to spend it how she likes (as long as it's age appropriate).
It's only a hair bow, yes she'll look stupid but if you can't look stupid at 5 then when can you.
Re crop tops id let her have that too has long as it's not a bra top. Nothing wrong with girls bellies.
