it's not a job imo. I also think there are jobs out there that are harder than being a parent.

Nope. It's piss-easy in comparison to probably 99.9% of jobs out there.

(Usual disclaimer about children with SN)

Wouldn't call it a job.
You can always quit a job...

No. At times it can be hard, but that's true of all relationships. I think it is the most rewarding, satisfying and delightful job in the world, mostly. I believe that having a child was the best thing I have ever done.

Depends on child, age, number of them etc.

It is harder than my job imo.

No because it's not a job :)

It's not a job it's a privilege.

No. Right now I think the guy trying to keep Donald Trump's smart phone from him has the hardest job in the world.

No. My actual job and those of a lot of other people are considerably harder. (And yes, as a pp has said, this is based on my having one child with no additional needs. Someone with six children, some or all of whom need additional care, may have a very different response.)

Right now I think the guy trying to keep Donald Trump's smart phone from him has the hardest job in the world.

He needs serious backup.

It's not a job, it is absolutely a privilege

It's not the hardest job in the world ( some days it's hard but never the hardest job in the world)

I came to say the same as MrSlant
No it's a privilege.
It is a hard job but not the hardest.
The hardest would be picking heads of lettuce or tomatoes, the ones we so easily buy at tesco.
Or a surgeon performing critical operations with life and death in their hands.

No, but it's not really a job, if it was I'd be asking for a pay rise Grin

Not the hardest job in the world, but in terms of the impact on my MH, I'd say it's far harder than other 'stressful' jobs I've had and if this were my actual job I'd have quit, but as it's my own children and they mean the world to me, the little happy moments make up for it. The reason I'm still a SAHM (well, PT self employed but still) is because the logistics of 3 different school runs with no family support would mean virtually all my earnings being sucked away on childcare costs, not to mention the additional stress from trying to juggle everything and squeeze all the chores into the evening/ weekend.

It's not a job. It's a life choice.

I agree it's not a job.

However, for me, it's one of the hardest lifestyles I could have chosen.

No. It's demanding and challenging, but it's not the hardest job in the world.

Yes, it's the most important endeavour I've ever and will ever undertake.

Being a parent is a massive responsibility. Being responsible for a child you brought into the world and ensuring it is fed, clothed, kept warm etc - and knowing that it's all up to you.

There are harder jobs.

I reckon, if Designated Surviver is anything to go by. I reckon being a world leader is a tidge tougher than being a Mother.

But personally, though the work load is easy and simple. It's the most mentally draining and exhausting thing I've done.

Also the difficulty of a job depends on your skill set.
I'd probably say that being an artist is hardest because I can't draw
Or something working at height
Or a police person because of what you might see.
Different strokes for different folks
