DS 1 (early 20s) had clearly overlooked Mother's Day not for the first time but fortunately his girlfriend gave him a nudge. So he made a card for me . . .

In fact, he typed it on an old-fashioned typewriter. The front cover of the folded A4 piece of paper stated: "You are my mother."

On the inside it read: "Your gift is having a son like me."

A few spaces down and then (not lined up!): "You're welcome." Smile

He had "wrapped" it in an old cardboard box that the cat is now sleeping in.

I haven't laughed so much for a long time. However, quality-wise it doesn't quite match DS2's effort of a couple of years ago when he was about 10 years old. In cartoon style, he'd made a 3-2-1 card that started with a hand-drawn picture of a normal-ish looking chicken and ended with an exploding chicken.

I feel so blessed to have two sons who love me so much Wink

I bet nobody has received such personalised cards as me!!!

My dds made me a card that gave reasons why they love me including - because you look like wonder woman - because your pizzas aren't as burned as they used to be - because you don't bite us and because you are good at fixing clocks.

What can I say, I'm clearly an amazing mother Grin

because you don't bite us - that is priceless! You may be amazing, Fish but did you get a picture of an exploding chicken? Just saying.

I didn't Sad I'll need to up my game next year, maybe if I don't batter them with sticks and fix remote controls as well as clocks (since all i did was change the batteries anyway) that will earn me an exploding chicken Grin

I could send you quite a few things to fix, Fish . . . possibly including DS1 as I'm not entirely sure what goes on in his head. He must get it from his father.

I'm a TA and made cards with the class on Friday. I hope they are appreciated. From "Happy Moth's Day" to "You have good eyesight" and "You are the best mum in the waxing" they were all made with love.

DS made me a card that said you are great at driving but not at parking.

This comes from me parking, the other day, too close to another car and having to reverse out and back in again, while muttering to myself about how rubbish that was.

I'm sure they are all made with love . . . and varying levels of creativity Grin

Sobeyond - keep a note of your DS's comment and get revenge once he starts driving lessons.

One of 12 yr old DS's school friends accidentally left his mother's day card out in his kitchen earlier this week, and his mother cried when she read the message. So my loving son wrote the same message in his in the hope that I would burst into tears and embarrass myself in front of Sunday lunch guests. Grin I'm made of sterner stuff than his friend's mum. I did kiss him on the top of the head while he was playing Xbox though, he hates that.

You're a hard woman, TimTam. What did it say? Did you mention the pitfalls of plagiarism?

My 16 year old had circled the apostrophe on his shop-bought "Mother's Day" (sic) card and put an arrow so it read Mothers' Day.

The fact that he'd want to please his pedantic mother says a lot Grin

By the way

Before anyone comments...

It's Mothers' Day (a day for all mothers), not Mother's Day (a day for only your mum)

I will brook no argument about this. The card companies are ALL WRONG

It said "I love you Mom. You are the best Mom in the whole world." My suspicions were raised by the use of 'Mom' as he calls me 'Mum'. Grin

My 9 year old wrote me a beautiful poem.

Mummy is the best,
Better than all the rest!
Mummy has claws,
To scare away Jaws!
Godzilla will run,
And Mummy will come!

There's a fantastic drawing of me chasing Godzilla. Grin

We're clearly all so loved, OP!

NotYoda - glad to know that the Apostrophe Police are active in your region [you should be proud of your son!] but I am a little disappointed that Mother's Day isn't just for me Sad

We'll say nothing about the dong, baby Shock As for "vomiting aliens" . . . there are no words!

One of my DC has SNs and is adopted.
He is beautiful, lovely but also volatile and challenging.
He bought me a card home from school with a list of reasons why I am the best mum.
Including 'you keep me safe and always give me chances'.
