To use dd's hand me downs on ds (for one week!)

Going away next week and snow is likely (not guaranteed). We have an old set of sallopettes and ski jacket dd used when she was 2. They are purple. Rather than buy ds (now 2) a fresh set for the chance they will get used, im planning on using these.

Dd has new as she is now in age 7 clothes, and as we have since had a ds weve bought her grey sallopettes to re use and a white coat.

Im getting the odd Hmm face off my dad some of our holiday companions. Apparently they are for girls and therefore it would be cruel to dress ds in them. Maximum 2 times. Ive attached a photo.

He won't catch "girl" or "gay" or anything.

It'll be fine. If he catches the gay just let him watch some Top Gear.

Its snow clothes hardly a frilly frock with lacy socks or something your dad is being ridiculous

I'd use them and if your dad is so bothered he can buy new ones for your DS!

Cruel how? Will the lack of penis space in the pants cut off blood supply to that vital organ untill it shrivels up and goes gangrenous?

Make the Hmm face back at them.

Purple is the colour of royalty. Fucking kings wear purple. These people must educate themselves.

Of course YABU- haven't you read the research on the dangers of dressing a boy in pink and purple !!

Tell them you are taking appropriate precautions by ensuring DS has an extra dose of playing with trains and toy power tools and smile sweetly

This drives me mad!

They are not particularly feminine though and it would be a waste of money to buy new for a week. He should wear them!

Put bobbles in his hair and some lippy on just to properly fucking wind them up Grin

Of course YANBU

Noooo! You can't put a bit in that! He'll catch Femininity!!!!! Or maybe The Gay!!!!!!!

Also, he'll never forget what he wore for a few days when he was 2! He'll still be having therapy for it when he's 40!!!!

Yabvvvvvvvu.

My 17 month ds is dressed in a pink Tshirt and jeans today, it matches the pink shirt dh wore to work.

Honestly it's a purple snow suit it will not harm your ds

I would find it utterly ridiculous not to use them. The sheer waste of buying new because of the colour is silly

I'd add pink boots and bloody tutu to the outfit

Looks unisex to me, your Dad is being a div (sorry). The obvious thing would be to use them and from here on in I would be buying him something purple for every birthday and Christmas present. A purple kilt perhaps

My 6'2" 14yr old DS is going skiing soon.
He's very pissed off that I couldn't find him a pair of pink sallopettes!

Purple will be fine.

I'd just laugh at your dad and say "he's twoooo...."

Obviously totally fine, however he may pick up on the attitudes/hear comments from the members of your family which may put him off, if so just tell him they are the colour of dairy milks bars or point out it is a colour for kings like pp have said? My DB would have chosen it over blue/green at the same age as purple is his favourite colour he also loves dairy milk

Im well aware, and happy to argue the point, that wearing these wont make him "catch the gay" however as someone pointed out above my dad is a div Grin as are a couple of the neaderthol men also going on the trip.

My c9ncern is I dont want ds looking back and being put out i didnt buy him new. No need imo!

Surely purple is a neutral colour anyway?

Your do no harm to your ds, his 2 he won't be forever hunted about the time you put him in a purple snow suit. Your dad is of course wrong but I think when the whole pink/blue thing has been around for so long you can't change the way people think over night

Report
NapQueen · 15/02/2017 12:44

I know for a fact he will cry like a banshee when he gets the put on however he hates having coats etc on so the colour is irrelevant.
