No one else will notice. People see you as a whole person rather than focusing on small details and they are probably too caught up in their own worries anyway. Do you have issues with body image?

I can see a 3lb weight gain on myself, but I have a small frame so 3lb is quite a lot for me to gain

I have a 4-6 pound daily fluctuation. Due to water weight, meals, constipation etc. You can't see it though and all clothes fit the same.

I don't notice until it's about 7lb. Then waists get tight.

It all depends. You can also have a very temporary weight gain just before your period, can be 1- 1.5kg sometimes. If this bother you a lot, monitor your weight, but no more than once a week at the most.

Frankly most of the time you cannot see it, unless you are a hobbit. Do not beat yourself up about that!

You might see it if you are used to examining yourself everyday but most people wouldn't really notice and I doubt anyone else would notice it on you. I can't imagine it's enough to make any difference to your clothes size, are you sure it's not just a bit of bloating and water retention?

I'm the only one who notices. I try not to - I've had issues with disorded eating in the past.

It's s lot on me. It goes on my upper body and is so obvious

Hassled · 16/10/2016 19:37

I think it depends on your frame - if you're petite and very slim, I reckon 3lb would show.

I can easily fluctuate that in a day, but I'm a size 18/20 so no, it doesn't notice on me.

no-one else is bothered how much you weigh, or how much you look like you weigh - at all
honest
lots of people can weigh 3lb less in the evening than they did in the morning.
please don't beat yourself up about the weight of 3 glasses of water.

I often gain 3lbs between waking up and going to bed. I certainly can't see it.

Anyone who says they can notice such a small amounts is talking absolute bullshit and clearly has some kind of body issues.

It just isn't possible - the average body will vary by more than this much during ordinary life.

Absolute madness.

I can notice 3lb on me I am 5ft 2 and 8st 8 so it is quite a lot for me.

At risk of sounding flippant, 3lb could be the difference between a couple of bowel movements or period/water retention. Noticeable weight change on a small child, not so much on a fully grown adult, no matter how petite.

Yes! In the last three weeks, I have stopped running (knee problems) and have been out a lot and eating a lot more rubbish than normal and drinking. I have only put on 2lbs. However, I have had to go back to my "fat" jeans as my usual jeans won't do up. My thighs & hips are larger than they were & I am horribly bloated. The bloat will disappear quite quickly, the thighs & hips only when I start watching what I eat & running. It is definitely noticeable to others.
I'm 5'4" and have gone from 10st4 to 10st6 so from very top of healthy BMI to 2lbs into overweight.

Hormones tend to really make you feel bloated so though the weight gain is modest, most of what you are feeling is the bloating. They can also cause fluctuations in your mood, hence you are probably feeling more vulnerable and aware of the weight gain.
I hope this helps you rationalise what is happening.
