to go to OOH with tingly boy?

8 year old boy, fit and well.

Gets double vision in the mornings for about a year, and "wobbly eyes" in class - nothing found by optician, waiting for hospital optician appointment.

Went a bit deaf for a few days in one ear last week.

Said a few days ago "why does your body go fuzzy, mum?" described vague tingling and floating feelings in arms.

Today, since he woke up at about 7am - has pins and needles in both arms, both legs and is definitely weak. Is able to walk, but, slow and can't do things he usually would. Can't touch his nose with his finger. nystagmus tracking a finger. Is tired, pale, bags under his eyes but eating.

I know enough about neurology for me to now be properly concerned, but, am aware that I am also liable to being a bit neurotic as our other son has been very unwell for a few years with a different condition.

WWYD, he's probably a bit viral, there's been bugs going around the school - is it ridiculous to go to OOH? Am I that neurotic mum and just need to have a cup of tea and a cuddle?

As you said, it's probably a virus, but I would get him checked out with those symptoms.

I am doubting myself with the other kid because we're at A+E all the bloody time. I'm never wrong, but, we are there a lot and in a lot. So, am wondering whether I've got a screw loose.

I would ring 111, who will then probably direct you to a&e, how worrying, hope all is ok.

It can be a sign of low calcium. If deffo get him checked. Let us know how he is.

I'd maybe consider OOH - they can prob direct straight to Paeds assessment. But perhaps Sun morning might be quiet at A&E. I'd be worried.

I had similar symptoms and called NHS direct, who sent me an ambulance. I'm fine now but worth getting checked x

A&E - definitely. I'm a GP and I would want urgent bloods done - and if normal, then a CT brain. It could be something simple e.g. B12 deficiency etc, but still needs investigated asap.

I can understand why you was thinking OOH when you are with him. Might not look that bad. But when it's written down like that, it's very worrying.

I'm not one for time wasters at A&E but for this I'd definitely go.

Rather get him checked and turns out it's nothing to worry about or regret not taking urgent action later on. I hope he's ok and it's just a virus.

it might be a migraine. The symptoms you describe would fit with one of the rarer sub types. you can check on the various migraine information sites.

Actually migraine is a possibility but with a child that age first time I'd also go to A&E.
