The Gusset Movement

We the undersigned would like to stand up (and sit down) and be counted, with our knicker gussets in the correct anatomical position.

For countless years we have been wearing our gussets nearer to our back bottoms than our gusset-loving front lady parts. We have waited since 1989 for the invention of the world wide web to finally be able to air our gusset woes (and share pictures of cats).

The time has come for the ladies of the world to speak up. The conspiracy of the ill-positioned knicker gusset must end now. We, the Gusset Movement, request a re-positioning of those all-important panty parts. Please knicker makers of the world, move the gusset forward.

Where's yours?

VeryBitchyRestingFace Sat 03-Sep-16 10:59:23

Guaranteed to be almost as popular as that 'Alternative Parent' with the carpet weeing wean's "Costa Roca" crowd funder.

AtiaoftheJulii Sat 03-Sep-16 11:00:23

Are you sure you're not just wearing your pants wrong? I don't have any problem with my gussets.

Meadows76 Sat 03-Sep-16 11:07:10

How big exactly is the space between front and back for you?

LimeJellyHead Sat 03-Sep-16 11:53:12

In feet and inches?

NotAPuffin Sat 03-Sep-16 12:07:18

Stop doing any exercise. Your arse muscles will shrink and a pot belly will develop. The whole fabric of your knickers will move forward and hey presto, gusset in the right place.
Or try a different brand.

LimeJellyHead Sat 03-Sep-16 12:38:26

It's drastic but anything that advocates laziness has to be a winner.

acasualobserver Sat 03-Sep-16 12:52:10

Simply sew an additional piece of material onto the required area. No need to start a petition. Corduroy is very versatile.

paxillin Sat 03-Sep-16 12:56:23

Are you wearing your knickers back to front?

Queenbean Sat 03-Sep-16 12:57:18

I don't have any gusset issues

I am a Gusset Issue Free lady and proud to stand up and tell the world

Oysterbabe Sat 03-Sep-16 12:58:42

The word gusset makes me want to vom.

JennyBunn Sat 03-Sep-16 12:59:14

Um, what Queenbean said confused

As an ex knicker designer, I'm stunned at this thread.

Can you explain with diagrams, where you'd prefer your gusset to be?!

<checks own gusset, happily finds it in the correct place>

LimeJellyHead Sat 03-Sep-16 13:10:07

Dear gusset issue free people - in the interests of research, do you have flat bums and pot bellies? I am interested in pursuing the 'stop exercising' advice I received earlier. Much easier than sewing my own corduroy gussets.

LimeJellyHead Sat 03-Sep-16 13:15:09

Oh, an ex knicker designer has joined the discussion. Yay. Well I would like my gusset about an inch forward please... more to the front. No diagrams needed I hope as I am currently busy flattening my arse and sewing corduroy off-cuts into my pants.

Out of interest, when you were a knicker designer, did you ever do research into the placement of the gusset? I realise the people with gusset issues are being shy at the moment but I can assure you I am not alone. People will start coming out of the gusset woodwork soon.

paxillin Sat 03-Sep-16 13:19:59

Dear gusset issue free you have flat bums and pot bellies?

Neither, totally average body shape, size 10 in M&S shorts style knickers. The cheap multipack cotton ones. Gusset is in the correct place. What style of knickers do you wear, maybe they don't suit your shape?

AnchorDownDeepBreath Sat 03-Sep-16 13:22:49

My gusset is in the right place too. I am not usually potbellied, and my bum is not flat.

are you buying the wrong size?

I think you may be a one woman army with this issue - I'd rather gussets didn't move, they are ideal where they are!

BombadierFritz Sat 03-Sep-16 13:25:11

i'll join the protest. its only some though. tbh I have mostly given up and wear massive granny style pants - no gusset wedgie.

Pestilence13610 Sat 03-Sep-16 13:29:19

Dear gusset issue free you have flat bums and pot bellies?

No it would appear many of us buy cheap multi-packs of short style knickers, Pretty Polly from TKMaxx or M&S.

Inspect your gusset before buying, is it wide enough and long enough and does it have flat seams?

hormental Sat 03-Sep-16 13:29:55

Solution could be to not where knickers!

BartholinsSister Sat 03-Sep-16 13:32:30

If you're blessed in that area, maybe your labia are making a break for freedom, Lime.

WallToWallBastards Sat 03-Sep-16 13:35:15

I have issues with gusset width. I don't want flossing but I still want my wings to fit comfortably over the edges and not get elastic burns in my bikini area grin
