in asking how long you spend on mumsnet most days?

ssd · 25/09/2011 23:27

cos some folk seem to spend their lives here

I feel I'm on here quite a bit, maybe 30 mins most days, but I'm a minnow compared with some posters

There seems to be loads of follow up threads about previous threads, does anyone really spend so much time here they get involved with all that??

All day, every day. And probably half the night too.

When the DDs are at school, I have nothing better to do. When they're out at the weekend, I have nothing better to do.

I prefer not to engage with RL unless I really have to.

It's better that way.

way too bloody long at the moment as I am working from home, and on the PC all day and most of the night.. and it is too distracting Grin

Just when I think it has all gone quiet and I can escape into the real world mitmoo starts a thread a new thread starts and I get sucked back in again... Grin

Depends on what you mean by "spend time on".

Often I have a window open when I am writing something for work (though only if doing overtime- I do not MN in the office) or running another programme. Or when cooking. Or getting dcs off to school (dd is prone to panic attacks and copes better if I am not too involved).

Constantly on my phone while watchibg telly (like now). When the DD's are asleep and DP is working late I have nothing else to do.

Depends really. Most days I look in if I'm having a cup of coffee and either stay a little while...or stay a bit longer if I get into an argument it's interesting.

I post most nights because DH does shift work and the kids are in bed by 9pm.

Bohica · 25/09/2011 23:38

I get in from work during the week and sort the children out before they go out to ply so switch the laptop on around 5pm, I'm then on and off untill 9pm when I'm on all night untill midnight 10.30.

Weekends on and off all day and then 9pm till 11pm.

So 15 hours per week and I still manage to miss the bun fights!

but will be on lots for next couple of days (days off), then not much again (working), then not at all by weekend (no internet at all)

i am on usually 45min a day during the week :)

Report
AgentZigzag · 25/09/2011 23:46

Do you ever sneak in an extra 15 mins to make it up to a whole hour my2centsis?

FlumpsRule · 25/09/2011 23:48

Went to bed because I was tired... Just checked active threads again & another 45 mins on MN has disappeared. That's a couple of hours today just skimming; in 15min slots usually. At least it's not time wasted eh?! Grin

Same as AnyFucker for me - feast or famine.

But even more literally. I can go off and forget about it for months. Then something will happen and I think 'Oooh, I'll Mumsnet that'!, then when I get started again I find it hard to drag myself away 'cos there's always yet another interesting thread to read. Can keep me up 'til all hours of the night.

I read more than I post tho', can't seem to keep up with posting on a regular enough basis.

Far too much - not much else to do when arse is welded to the chair when I'm bf'ing DS3. And there's fuck all on TV. Grin. Plus this place is like Hotel California - it sucks you in and won't let you leave...

AnyFucker · 25/09/2011 23:52

oh no, mama, I can't go months without MN

I would shrivel up like a prune, I reckon

a few days is my limit Smile

Report
AnyFucker · 25/09/2011 23:54

and I post on most threads that I read (gobshite that I am)

I don't lurk much, I pretty much always have something to post, so my posts do reflect the time I spend here

Valpollicella · 25/09/2011 23:56

I tend to be logged on for most of the day....my shiny new phone is a godsend.

II can't do a day withjout MN. The first day I found MN I actually printed threads off whilst at work to read on the tube hime Grin

DS now says, 'Mummy, you're not going onto Mums life are you?' whenever I open the laptop....

Eh? Is it not normal to spend all day, every day, and half the night on here?

Report
CrispyHedgehog · 26/09/2011 00:48

probably a couple of hours a day but broken up into short bursts here and there. I'm a champion lurker tho, don't post very much.

New here but spent a lot of time looking around.

I don't think it is easy to get get involved in a conversation because the threads move so quickly, unless you sit here all day.

I would find myself giving an opinion and then going out and coming back and it would be 100-200 posts ahead.........

So good for people without a life bad for people with stuff to do.
