AIBU?

in drying my underwear in my back garden?

The sun finally came out! So I stuck some washing out on the rotary drier to dry, including some plain black Evans M&S knickers (nothing racy!)

Later a note popped through the door (didn't see who left it) and it read:

"Please do not dry underwear in the garden, it's not very nice to have to look at"

I was a bit Hmm

To clarify, my garden is has 6ft fences, and to see into it someone would have to be looking out of the top back windows of their house, and then at an angle (hard to explain, but basically it's not in view from other gardens - unless they are climbing the fence - or in view from anyone's lounge/downstairs rooms).

And I try to be discrete! I put pants on the 'inner' rows of the drier so they aren't spinning their crusty gussets around on the outside in full view of anyone who might be looking, and I usually put them sandwiched between other items.

AIBU? Confused

Sounds like your neighbours are twats. Where on earth do you live?

Are you sure it wasn't your DCs having a laugh?

That note is most definitely from a woman. Put out your raciest stuff to dry and ignore her. When you find out who it is, pop a note through her door, "Please do not look at my underwear, you're contaminating it with your bile and it makes me itch". Hmm

My DD is only 2 and can't write yet lol!

I live at the end of a cul-de-sac, it's not a massively well-off area, just a kinda 'family area', I don't know my neighbours well, and don't recognise the handwriting!

Unless it is someone having a laugh, that is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in a long time. Your neighbours sound mental.

I agree, I would feel morally obliged to go and buy a bumper pack of crotchless knicks and hang them out on the outside of the line every day for a month.

Lol @ "LyingWitch" - I sooooooo wanna do that!

......... but alas I don't own any racy stuff, and in all fairness the ones that I do have could be mistaken for tents/parachutes.........

Hmm That is absurd (the note, not the undies).

It's perfectly normal to dry one's underwear in the garden, whether racy or not. This is true whether you have a well-enclosed garden or a communal drying green. What kind of weirdo would write a note complaining about it?

In future, make sure you display your underwear as prominently as possible when drying.

Are your knickers big belly warmers?
You should put your sexy thongs etc out on veiw

What a weirdo!! Of course you're perfectly entitled to put whatever you like into your back garden (apart from a dead body or suchlike) and he/she is a complete nutter to even think about sending you a note about it. A few years ago in Dublin there was a spate of people complaining about washing being put out in gardens - apparently it "spoiled the look of the place." Makes you wonder how boring people's lives must be if they're genuinely worried about something so pointless.

Is it half term in your area Grin?

That is both weird and horrid. I really don't see how what you hang in your garden is any busienss of anyone else, and putting your underwear out to dry is entirely normal. Do ignore it (unless you find out who it was, then you can go to town). Someone with issues, clearly.

Joking aside, your neighbours are eejits!

If I were you I would beg/borrow/steal every item I could get my hands on from Ann Summers and display them proudly on my washing line. If she/he don't like plain black pants, just wait 'til they get a load of a massive dildo/bondage gear/butt plug.

None of their business the nosey feckers. Anonymous note I bet. Cowardly nosey feckers. Oh - how about a big sign to put on your washing line 'PISS OFF YOU NOSEY PERVERT'

Buda · 31/05/2011 16:02

OMG! The cheek!

I dry mine outside all the time. I hide them like you do.

Ignore.

Or save them all up and wash all your undies at once and hang them out together with nothing else on the line.

I agree with Nooby.

Time to borrow your best mate's crotchless nookie-knickers & wave them high and proud.

take it as a warning,
my neighbour asked me to stop putting bra's out because it wasnt fair on her husband
to be clear we were in a detached house and he'd have to be upstairs leaning out to see i laughed and said she needed help

the next day i hung out all my washing went out for an hour to walk the dog and when i got back all my underwear bar one thong which was stuck on a splinter on the fence was GONE

she didnt answer the door and then the next day it was in a pile on the porch, she told me she really wished i would take her seriously as her husband was not happy about having to look at my pants,

crazy, crazy lady and her pervo husband moved shortly after

maybe it was the suspenders........
