VistaPrint are good

After DH used Vistaprint, I'd actually advise you finding a local company to print them and paying for them. They're normally not too expensive.

GloriaSmut · 04/05/2011 13:47

Free business cards usually look like free business cards.

knittedbreast · 04/05/2011 13:49

luckily i have family who can print them out free of charge on the right paper with finishes etc..

Strongly recommend Vistaprint. Once you have bought something you get LOADS more offers through.

gawdblimey · 04/05/2011 14:00

you get what you pay for in my experience

if you offer a potential client a cheap crappy card, that says a lot about you and your company

knittedbreast · 04/05/2011 14:09

i dont have a company :( i think you are thinking a bit up market blimey.

im just looking at offering to iron, errand, clean local homes.

I'm talking only about £40 at the most. Honestly, have a mooch around. They'll help you with the artwork too. If you get yourself police checked too then you can aim at the market were social services don't provide services, like shopping for elderly people etc. Good luck!

knittedbreast · 04/05/2011 14:17

ooooh now theres an idea visitor.

the other thing i was thinking of doing was offering email counselling services, but im not sure about this yet

Honestly, there is a real niche in the market for someone like you. If you can do basic decorating or DIY too, that would be fantastic. I have plans for such a business, but have a few physical problems at the moment so am not able to do it as yet. Your marketing has to be good though, and a professional looking business card is part of this. The free ones look a little bit shit (IMO). You'll also need someone who can give you a good character reference, a local friendly copper is good if you have them in your social circle.

knittedbreast · 04/05/2011 14:41

i dont know any police :(

do you mean my counselling services or my round the house ideas?

OP posts:
TheVisitor · 04/05/2011 14:45

Round the houses. Anyone who's in authority who could vouch for you. Because the elderly are vulnerable, it's a really good thing to have references that they can chase up before they let you in their home or trust you with their money. Not mandatory, just giving you ideas. :)

gawdblimey · 04/05/2011 14:47

ah right, sorry, got the wrong end of the stick

what area are you in, i have a load of ironing you can practice on :)

knittedbreast · 04/05/2011 14:49

Vistaprint is fine for your needs. The average householder isn't going to give a flying f what your details are printed on, in fact if they look too expensive people will assume you are!

They do actually offer a whole range of different styles and finishes, and they are very efficient.

Go for it and good luck!

If you have a printer buy a pack of business cards in sheets (get the "pop out" ones as they give a clean edge) and have a go yourself. Avery ones are very good. You can buy them from any good office supplies shop.
