Back in A&E

Not sure what's happened to my other thread it won't load on the app. Back in A&E with mum. She had severe headache & her BP shot up. We are now waiting for a CT Scan to rule out a bleed on the brain 😪 She had a heart attack only a few weeks ago. Just got her home not long. Honestly tonight I feel burnt-out 😔 At least the kids are at home fast asleep so one less thing to worry about.

Can't really say anything helpful except hope it goes well and that your mum gets better.
Horrible when you're waiting in A&E isn't it, especially in the middle of the night? Flowers

Thankyou. I think I've become desensitised to the waiting like the news. I am so grateful though for the NHS Dr's and nurses. Honestly every time I've come past month whether for my dad, mum myseld they have been brilliant 👏

I hope your mum is OK & she gets better soon. My mum was admitted through A & E last Friday after collapsing & having a seizure due to her heart having blips, she went in at 5.00pm but didn't get a bed until 3.30am on coronary care, she had spent all that time sat on a plastic chair in a cubical, they then turfed her out of coronary care at 6.00am & dumped her in a mixed sex ward where patients weren't even separated by sex in bays. She said they were shipping patients in & out all through the night, she had very little sleep for the 48 hours she was in. Thankfully they did a minor procedure to implant a loop recorder to monitor her heart & put her on beta blockers. At 83 they should be treated better.

Oh my gosh Nat6999 I'm sorry to hear of your mum's experience. That is bloody disgraceful! Absolutely at that age they should be treated with respect & dignity. Hope your mum is doing better now Flowers I don't know if the difference is me not leaving my parents side everytime they have needed A&E as my dad had a stroke a while ago & I remember how badly they treated him then. That was my learning point since then I make sure I'm with them everytime. Although not sure I can accompany them all the time going forward. I may have to pick my battles with so many appointments & upcoming surgery for my dad Sad

It really is a battle and you have so much hope in your heart. It's exhausting though. Fingers crossed for you

Oh thanks heaven the scan does not show any signs of bleed. There is some inflammation which apparently is normal when you have been unwell . So we can go home soon Smile

Just woke up to this good news Smile so hopefully you and your mum are all tucked up now.
Good luck OP, hope both parents will be ok.

Frownette · 23/06/2021 07:19

Oh that's nice, hopefully you're both resting now :)

Nat6999 · 23/06/2021 13:37

Pulledapart2015 we would have gone with my mum if we could have done but due to Covid we weren't able to & only one person was allowed to visit for a limited time slot.

Pulledapart2015 · 23/06/2021 20:47

Yes all these Covid restrictions make it so damn difficult to be loved ones. I was lucky enough to stay with my mum until they moved her to the cardiac ward. Then it ws the one visitor per day in allocated time slots xxx
