I expect that this will be a very short thread but I just had to say that I am pissing myself laughing at David Bowie's Christmas jumper and scarf which he whores out for the introduction.

The music is very nice, it's well worth listening to as your toddler randomly destroys the tree decorations.

A very short thread indeed

Does anyone else like it?

i LOVE it

watched it today (in 3 parts) on you tube!

moaningminniewhingesagain · 09/12/2009 21:50

DD has been watching it on a VHS that belongs to DH and she loves it!

There's a voucher for a free copy of the book in the christmas Radio Times

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 09/12/2009 21:55

Is it the proper book? The only one I could find in Waterstones has been especially ruined by being translated into text-with-illustrations rather than the original format. WHY?

moaningminniewhingesagain · 09/12/2009 21:58

I haven't taken it in yet, its to collect from ELC so I hope so. We do already have a hardback copy that is all pictures like the photo stories in Jackie used to be? Is that what you mean?

frasersmummy · 09/12/2009 22:00

we have it on dvd 4 year old ds loves it

Hulababy · 09/12/2009 22:03

Did you know that for some reason it is a PG? Why?

I work in a Y1 class and this is this half term's book, from which they do various curriculum activities, esp literacy and their writing assessments. Think I know it backwards now, and I can make a mean snowman in various posts!

I bought it for 7y DD as she had never seen it.

WeThreeNinks · 09/12/2009 22:05

It's a PG? Why on earth?

I think because children are often upset by the ending.

WeThreeNinks · 09/12/2009 22:07

Ah, that would be it. I get a bit teary about it

I was suprised. WE had shown it to a year group of Y1 children wthout getting parental permission, as no one knew it was a PG - some copies say U, some PG, very confusing.

I hadn't though of the snowman melting bit making it a PG. I had assumed that it was because there was evidence of alcohol being drunk - the snowman and James fly past a cruise liner and a man has a bottle in his hand.

PG because it features child abduction, albeit in a very benign way.
