Wrapping presents

Random question but do you wrap your Santa presents to your dc?

DH and I never had our presents wrapped they were just sitting out on Christmas morning. But I always see in films and tv shows the presents are always wrapped.

Always wrapped here too, although dh says when he was a child nothing was wrapped at all. He said it was amazing walking in to the front room and just seeing everything set out and they could just run and start playing with their gofys, getting more excited at the things they saw.

Personally, I love seeing the kids faces as they unwrap their gifts, id hate to miss that and I think it would be carnage having 3dc just run and pile into everything lol.
Plus it helps the morning last a little longer, mine all take turns in opening theirs, and they can really take in and appreciate each individual gift.

Plus I luv be wrapping and how beautiful it all looks

I can see pros and cons to each, so whatever works best for you and yours, there's no right answer.

In this house, Santa brings stocking stuff. This is not wrapped.

Big presents are from family. They are wrapped.

It would never cross my mind not to wrap presents?! We never had Santa presents and family presents though, Father Christmas brought all of our presents.

all gifts are wrapped and we take turns unwrapping so it takes ages and everyone can see the gifts. Who give a present unwrapped??? Where's the fun in that?

No. It seems massively wasteful and pointless to me!
The whole point of wrapping is that it makes you wait and you have fun guessing the shape, but there's no waiting for Santa presents, they don't sit under the free in the count down.

Plus, stockings are wrapping, so wrapping the bits that go in stockings is like wrapping twice

No we don't wrap santa presents. I love the look on their faces when they run into the room and see the tree, they usually come to a standstill!! All other presents under the tree are wrapped so still plenty to open!

The only things unwrapped in our house are stockings and any presents that needed to be put together in advance - we have only ever put together a bike and two kitchens.

Santa usually brought the 'main' gift I.e bike - these were the gifts my mother refused to wrap. She still refuses to wrap a gift which she declares santa has brought.

All other gifts were wrapped and they came from parents/grandparents etc.

Don't you teach your child that different homes do things differently? If so then why would playground discussion be an issue? DR has friends who don't do Santa at all but do other celebrations that we don't do, and since I have raised my girls to understand diversity and differences this never caused her any problems enjoying OUR Santa traditionz

Our tradition was always that Father Christmas gives the stocking gifts (so parents are surprised by what he has bought) and delivers the other ones on behalf of the givers (parents, other relatives they are not seeing over Xmas etc) All are wrapped, but stockings have different paper.

We don't wrap and in Christmas Eve we build necessary plastic toys, put batteries in and pile boxes into display so children can come down and start playing and we can sit watch and relax with coffee watching happy children 👶

When mine were little we wrapped everything apart from things that needed building.
So if they got a train set it would be set up ready to be played with.
They got one gift of Santa which was always wrapped in paper with Santa on it, so they knew which it was.

We always wrap our main present for the dc and put it under the tree, that's from us. Their santa presents are stuffed into their stocking unwrapped.

In our house, big presents are from us, and just the stockings are from Father Christmas (although my DC are 17 and 20!). I always wrapped the stocking gifts, and loved to watch them opening them on Christmas morning. In fact, last night, I had my annual Christmas dream, where it's Christmas Eve and I haven't bought anything . I need to start shopping.

Everything's wrapped in our house. FC only brings stockings because I don't want some kid in a house who hardly got anything to wonder why my child has a bike and they don't. ( I've worked with a lot of neglected children). I would wrap a bike too.... love a challenge on Christmas Eve.

Father Christmas brings the stockings in my house. The gifts and sweeties in there are not wrapped. All other gifts are from friends and family. As they are wrapped or brought round, they go under the tree.

Everything in this house gets wrapped. Even the tiniest of stocking presents. If it ain't wrapped, it ain't a present! 🎗

Yes, every tiny little one. When the DC were small we used to sit up into the wee small hours on Christmas Eve doing them very roughly, the children used to think it was because the elves were so busy. Nowadays I have them all done by the end of November so do them more slowly and tidily. It's my favourite bit of Christmas morning, opening the stockings.

I wrapped a full size piano last year Previous challenges included a yard brush and, yes, a bike.

We wrap anything that doesn't go in stockings. I go a bit overboard for adults, with ribbons and baubles and handmade crochet decorations - I had a shop job as a student, which involved gift-wrapping. Bloody love it.

If in doubt, get a big ish box, chuck the awkward thing in it, and wrap the box.

Gift bags are a travesty unless being used as a kind of hamper and filled with individually wrapped things. Where's the surprise?!

Not just me already planning this year's wrapping scheme, then? Start in January in the sales when all the paper is cheap.

We are exactly the same as you - mine are even older! We are going over to goody bags for the adults now that there are DGC so their parents are continuing the tradition of stockings for the children which is lovely.

The only things that are not wrapped here are the bags of chocolate coins in the stockings and the Santa 'calling card.' Absolutely everything else, whether stocking gifts, tree gifts etc are always wrapped. When dcs were little, Santa always chose one wrapping paper for each child and wrapped all their gifts in that - very easy to see whose present was whose. We still do that now, a different paper for dcs and their partners do if labels fall off it's not a problem. (Santa calling card =every year Santa would leave a small toy, picture, nik-nak that looked like home so dcs knew the presents were really from him! We still do it even now they're grown up.)
