OMG I've actually got over 650 books!!

652 to be precise. How the hell did that happen? Okay, so that includes the entire Chalet School, Famous Five etc, but it also doesn't include any of the non-fiction. And they're all mine - I didn't even count DH's.

The worrying thing is that there are a load I haven't even read, and at least 6 that I've got two copies of. Blush. I blame the Book People box sets for that one.

So please reassure me that I'm not alone. And help me find a house with a library so I can find space for them all rather than all the double stacking I've got going on at the moment!

I now have about 250 books on my bookcase. And now about 10 on my kindle. I have just deleted quite a few that I have read.

Ginburee · 07/11/2018 12:18

I have books everywhere and a pile of around 50 to read. That doesn't include all the books on my kindle, the children's books or my audible books.

InMySpareTime · 07/11/2018 13:03

I had over 3000 books last time I counted, I have read all but the 30 on my TBR shelf. All the rooms in the house have some books in, except the bathroom, and all the books are shelved alphabetically (or by Dewey Decimal for non-fiction).
DD knows that when she leaves home her room will become the library.
Books are the best kind of furniture, and my only regret is that I have run out of shelveable walls.

I’ve got about 900 books including the stuff on my kindle, my ds has 400 in his bedroom and there are aleast another 800 or so in study and another 1000 or so at mums house. My dh surprised me by having shelves fitted in our wee sitting room, for my birthday one year, they are floor to ceiling, and stuffed full! I just need some library steps and I’ll be in paradise! Still go to the library once or twice a month as well.

morningconstitutional2017 · 07/11/2018 13:58

I've got loads of books too but due to a shortage of space probably not as many. I try to read and pass on when I can.

My dream is to have a library room - floor to ceiling shelves full of books books, books and when I become a millionaire this will happen! Ha, ha.

We have around 10,000 as my OH and I are readers and both children studied English Language and Literature at Uni ...daughter going on to do Masters and PhD...both are writers now...I am doing regular trips to charity shops now as we are planning to move...
Bloody love my books and it kills me to de-select them but I have to be realistic..

bertielab · 07/11/2018 18:36

I've got over 3000 in this house and my ex husband made me cull about about 1000 5 years ago.

I do't drink I don't smoke -but boards games and books -bring them on.

Love it.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 07/11/2018 18:37

Is that one of the reasons that he's an ex bertielab?

I think we have about 1,000 most of which are mine. We moved not long ago and I did try to sort my books out but failed miserably. The removal men could not believe how many boxes said "books".

In our old house we had a spare bedroom with shelves almost floor to ceiling on all walls which had our books on. We have not yet sorted out proper places in the new house for them.

We have some friends who own a chateau in France. It is quite small and looks like an English castle. It has a moat and working drawbridge. Although beautiful the only thing I am envious of is that the have a library with beautiful wooden shelves all round and a wooden ladder which slides around the room - the room is circular as it is in a tower!

Negcap · 07/11/2018 22:01

Discovered not so long ago that although I will never ever give up on my many books - when it came to unpacking the twenty-first book box after a housemove - I gave in and gave away a few - books not boxes of books. Then I counted up how many on the Kindle...oh dear, no-one but me is ever going to know...

Poppycat81 · 08/11/2018 08:26

650 books is a great place to start. Keep collecting and just pass them on to your kids when they're older.

I have roughly 1000 books, not including my boys' books, I've read most of them.

DogMa1 · 08/11/2018 22:52

I had 2 thousand books when I had to downsize drastically. I now have 1900 in storage and have somehow acquired 2033 kindle books Blush I panic unless I have several books on hand waiting to be read...
