Well that's the question really!!

My personal favourites for any other twist lovers are:

Fingersmith
An instance of the fingerpost
The murder of Roger Ackroyd

Hmm, I read The Wasp Factory for A Level English but don't remember much of it. Will have to dig out my copy. Bits are coming back, but I kind of don't want to spoil myself now!

I'm a little ashamed to say that My Sisters Keeper also struck me as a clever and thought-provoking twist. Then I read some more Jodi Piccoult books and clocked the formula.

Veronika Decides to Die by Paulo Coelho. Read that around the same time as the above two (long summer between A Levels and University!) and that blew my mind a little bit!

Fingersmith was my first thought too. I remember being about to put the book down & go to sleep - it was gone 2am on a work night - but when I got to the twist I had to read to the end.

The problem with Roger Ackroyd was that I'd heard so much about it having an amazing twist that I started suspecting in the first few pages & so wasn't that surprised at the end.

Tyke Tiler was VERY clever.
