What diet with a history of eating disorders?

I am about 2 stone overweight following 2 children who don't sleep (chocolate is a sleep substitute here!)

Anyway I used to be very anorexic, then bulimic, and have fought bulimic tendencies on every diet.

I am attracted to the 5:2 but think it might be triggering, and DP has forbidden low carb as apparently I was evil last time!

I am still breastfeeding and constantly have 2 children in tow and no evenings (see non sleeping) so can't do SW or similar. Also can't exercise other than running around with the 3yo....

Any advice?

Even with the NoS way of eating you will still come across triggers in that if you want to have a snack because you are hungry and then deprive yourself because the diet says you cant eat between meals, that in itself could and probably would bring on a binge episode . Same as being told you cant have any sweets, if you really want them and deprive yourself you will usually end up bingeing.

I hope you don't mind me saying but if you have had anorexia and bulimia then I would have thought you would be best advised to not attempt any diet at all but instead maybe visit a counsellor to help you understand your attitude towards food and yourself.

Definitely not 5:2!

Come and read through the Eating Better threads - no diets, but focus on nourishing, high quality food and mindful eating. We try and minimise sugar and refined carbs but nothing is banned and guilt is not allowed. Very much a WOE or even a way of life, rather than a quick fix. POsters who say they need to lose weight are doing so steadily and pretty happily. I really think it would be good for you with your background. There is a lot of emphasis on self care and enjoyment, the opposite of many diets that involve restriction, self punishment and a sense of guilt/failure that hits when you 'fall off the wagon' Smile.

weight watchers online simple start then healthy and filling?

Basically wholegrain carbs, low fat protein, as many fruit ans veg as you want plus 49 points to spend on wine foods not included in the list. No need to ever be hungry, so can eat plenty for bfing and to prevent bingeing. Also it's pretty easy to do family dinners that fit with it once you get used to it.

You could try NoS, maybe? here
It's very unperscriptive reqlly, comes with forums and a calendar to help you keep track and is free.
Also it's just very sensible and there are no good or bad foods.
