I really don't like my kitten getting into bed with me am I horrible?

Her siblings sleep with their slaves but I can't cope with her trampling all over me. I do feel mean but I work three nights a week I feed her when I get home at 9 am and play for her for half an hour that's all I can give her I repeat the processe on the evening before I go to work it's just for about two hours she gets herself out of the kitchen and into my room. I have my eye mask on and she will dive bomb me out of nowhere then pull my hair it's terrifying!!! Goes on for about an hour until I give her loads of treats and barricade my door. Any tips? When I'm not at work we have lovely times together and she actually goes to bed at 10 and I do t see her again until I get up. I can't expect her to work shifts like me. She's growing beautifully and the vet said she's the most sociable kitten she's ever met its just my sleep I need it when I'm working.

The kitten is now sleeping on a fleece under the kitchen table!

(She's still got the other bed in the shed with another fleece in it for the daytime)

The gardens enclosed so she can't get out ...yet!

She's gotten far tamer now and guilt got the better of me! I don't like having to bring the litter tray in at night but I just put it back out again in the morning!

She's not getting in any human beds though, ever! I'm afraid of fleas and worms. Even though she's de-flead and de-wormed, I'm wary. Cats lick their own butts.

i give mine those felix crunchies things, and they get about 10-15 a day, some in the morning when i feed the kids breakfast, and some at night when i call them in.

obvs if i call them in during the day they get some too, its like clicker training.. i call, they come, i treat, lol.

at the poor kitten sleeping in the shed! I would be worried he'd go wandering in the night and get hit by a car or attacked. Hopefully he's microchipped and collar on! Sorry Scarlet!

Geez I feel hungover. I'djust dozed off today when she broke in I just lay there whilst she tried to take my eye mask off. I didn't have the energy to move her she eventually started playing with the wash basket and an old suitcase I fell asleep. Woke up for the loo at 3 and she was asleep next to me. That's progress but I still moved her to the kitchen and grabbed another hour. I've had five hours sleep not ideal but it is my last one. How many treats can they have? She's only just started liking them so I've got about seven different types. My friend leaves one for every hour she is away on a silk pillow I chuck a few into a box she likes to dive into but I do t want to give too many.

my two have free reign of the house all day, but not at night time, once i go to bed, they are turfed downstairs and the door firmly shut. They're allowed in with me once DH goes out at 6.30.

They walk over me, purr a bit, then curl up with me.. i love taking afternoon snoozes with them :)

Thanks shes been fine today. Shes sat on my head right now. Half an hour full on on play then a quick shower for me. I think feeding her when i leave and again in the morning helped.

I'm a nurse on night duty with a kitten currently wrapped round my feet!
Play with her, feed her then lock her out of the bedroom if you don't like her in with you. (I personally love the cat in bed with me)
My old cat probably slept 20 hours/24. He always came to bed with me in night duty and slept on his back all day.
Kittens calm down eventually, you will find a pattern which works for you both.

They say they sleep for up to 16 hours I haven't seen mine doing that yet but she does seem to go down on a night. I'm on three nights now and when you think about it it's not like I go to bed for ten hours in the day I'm lucky if I get five. That's why it's so precious to me. I think I'll start feeding her when I get in at 930 instead of getting my friend to do it when she leaves for work at 7.

I've never felt guilty leaving mine. He's totally looked after & gets to do exciting cat stuff all day.

We tried him back on the bed recently and he clawed the side of the bed and then went for my foot.

I gather cats sleep on average anything between 12 and 17 hours a day, so she will soon adjust to sleeping when you are in bed or out, and being lively when you are around.

If you do worry about her ever feeling lonely when there's nobody around, she may like the TV or a radio on - my friend does this for her dogs when she's at work.

OP, I'm a nurse, my girls are left for 14 hours while I'm at work and are more than happy. If I'm not at work I'm usually out during the day and they aren't bothered. (I've spied on them with a camera). Mine are very chilled out. And since they spent their first years in a catttery being bred from, my house is like a five star hotel and they know they are loved.

Hi - she looks just gorgeous - those ears! Oh I do can understand how you feel - my ancient boy woke my 5 year-old up at 6.45 this morning and I could have screamed. They are part of the family but when he went through a phase of howling at 4am i really struggled.

My kittens have always calmed down with age and i've missed the chaos after... She's clearly loved and cared for and not everyone wants their cat on their bed but watch out, she may just find her way in there and you'll get used to it.

My cat is completely pampered. She really does get a huge amount of time and attention. She's fed well and brushed twice daily. She's shut out of my bedroom at night though. She has the run of several rooms just not my bedroom. She couldn't care less. I also work full time. I think your cat will be just fine. Don't feel bad.

I don't think you're horrible. Those criticising seem to be focusing on the times when you work the 3 days, what about the days you're not at work?

I've never liked my cats sleeping on my bed and they're just fine. I used to put them in the kitchen but now they're a lot older they've learnt not to bother me at bedtime

It makes me wonder about the millions of cat owners in places like NYC aren't they good enough either living in flats n all. It's perfectly normal all over the world.

I just don't like her sleeping with me but when the kitten stage is over it migh be completely different.

My cats used to sleep downstairs together. Unfortunately Barnaby was run over and I felt sorry for Troy so allowed him to sleep wherever he wanted. He would sleep on my bed but fussed so much during the night I made him sleep downstairs on his own which he accepted.

When Troy became ill with heart failure I let him sleep on my bed again and he still fussed during the night but I wanted him near me. He would sleep on my pillow above my head and during sleep I would hold his paw. He died 4 months ago and I miss the paw holding and his lovely furriness.

Whatever. Shes sat on my knee now with my flatmate sat on the other sofa and the neigbours popped in to borrow the hoover and has said anytime she wants her to feed her she will do it. She has a key. Dont mske me feel guilty about my lifestyle. My cat is not neglected. I work three nights a week. Its quite normal for a nurse.

well if you cant afford two cats, and its being kept in a flat on its own, then youre going to have to get used to it needing your company. Theyre not toys you can just get out when you want a play
