Right then mumsnetters. DP and I were going to get married next October in NY with family and friends in attendance. We realised last night that it was already becomming a circus. So we are going to do it in January. Still in NY but with only with our DS' and my BF and her DH as our witnesses.

Please please help with finding outfits appropriate for a NY freezing January wedding.

They dont have to be traditional but no wacky outfits please. I would prefer classy I do not want my sons dressed in identical outfits and I will not put them in suits or ties.

Thanks all

I had to reply too - we eloped to NY in Feb and it was utterly fantastic. We got married at City Hall, and celebrated after by going ice skating in Central Park and then on to look at dinosaurs at the Museum of Natural History

I had some great style advice from here and ended up in a rather short glam black dress from Coast, with coloured tights and peep hole high heels. DS insisted on a shirt and tie (DP didn't even wear a tie!) but wore them with a gorgeous purple stripy cardigan and converse. Ah, it was so blissful. And really not as cold as I was expecting!

Enjoy it - I know you will!

Oooh have no idea what you should wear but couldnt not reply. I got married in NY 4 1/2 years ago in April and it was fantastic!

I wore a wedding dress so cant really help but it was brilliant walking through NY in wedding dress - some people didnt even look twice!

TMAM love love love love love that. Think DP may say no to 4grand though

Children will be in bed soon need some more suggestions. Liking the vintage style and reckon I could do a backless thing as its the only part of me not ravaged by giving birth.

Go three days early and get something there in the sales. Shopping in NY is one of life's greatest pleasures. Congratulations!

I have to admit I saw this in a magazine or online mag and did think, oooooo I'd like to get married again to wear this one. It's more on the traditional side, but I think it would suit you.

Sorry had to disappear to sort out a teething snot monster.

I really like that tarten VW I am Scottish though would it be a bit twee to wear tarten to my wedding?

Angry pixie I dont have a budget DP has said he is happy for me to spend a bit. Think he is more excited about me wearing a dress rather than jeans that he doesnt mind.
