I may well have the same one for ds (17 months but 18-24 month size) as mosschops - he had a similar brown one from there which saw him through his first winter last year, and which has plenty of wear in it left for an expected little brother. But I suspect they may not go up big enough for op's son.

Yes, got ds1 and ds2 one in Zara, £12 each - padded and v warm.

I'm not spending a lot on coats that get used as goalposts in teh playground and get trampled onin teh cloakrooms!

I have a slightly odd thing with boys coats in that they must be all one colour. I hate the ones that are blocks of navy and pale blue or red and orange etc.

No offence, it's just me being odd.

Another H&M vote here - hooded, padded (but not too bulky) and waterproof.

I got a really brilliant striped fleece (green and navy) jacket for DS3 from Sainsbury. It was really cheap, looks lovely and is very very warm.

I think the choice of coats for boys is pants unless you can spend a small fortune.

Ds had a really nice one from BHS last year, really thick and waterproof, but it somehow got ripped, so I replaced it with another BHS one, but it has been crap, all the lining has ripped.

Thankfully, I managed to get him a 2nd hand |Next one from ebay for about £3.50
