I'm almost 40 years old, are these earrings too young for me? I always wear pearls and I would like to wear something different.

Well of course you could get something nicer for the same ££££. they are branded and obviously showing a "desirable" name which you are buying a part of because you want to emulate a sense of a luxury in your persona - that's exactly how luxury brands work.

i wouldn't buy them myself nor would i admire them on anyone else but they're definitely NOT hideous. if you like them, you wear them.

Oh fair enough, I guess like knock off Calvin Klein and Caterpillar stuff when I was at school. There used to be people selling 3 for a tenner on street corners in London.

I don't care about brands but I wear a Superdy coat , Converse Hi-Tops and Kipling bags because I like them and they are leather and feather free .

But aside from the price/brand , the earrings are too big for my lobes , I'd feel a bit like an ear tagged old dairy cow .

The circle ones on the same page are nicer (but £350)


If my 20yo wanted them I'd consider , she is careful with her jewellery but I wouldn't have paid that much as a young teen .

I can buy beautiful silver studs for a fraction of that cost from independent jewelers

But everything we buy could be cheaper and better quality from independent artisans. Bags, clothes .. if some people wants to spend their money in a branded item, why to mock them?

At least I don't spend my money in booze or ready meals or shit sugary food like most of the British people at my work.

I spend my money in something I can sell later or give to my child when she will be a teenager.

The earrings are £240 - hardly 'very expensive'.

Silver costs, as a raw material, less than £1/g and they are massed produced so £240 is "very expensive" for a pair of off the peg silver earrings. (But I realise that the brand is important to lots of people)

Life is for enjoying How is a pair of non Tiffany earrings any less enjoyable? In fact you could buy a different pair of silver earrings for £25 and have £215 change to enjoy!

Having a particular item is what's important to some people - regardless of the brand/cost/cost of production, etc - this is what brings the enjoyment.

Many people don't care about that. If I want to buy jewellery from Tiffany, Cartier, VC&A, etc, I'm not in the least concerned about that. Life is for enjoying.
