Black trainers for work

Littleguggi · 21/09/2022 21:55

I work in the NHS in a patient facing role and have noticed more of my colleagues are wearing trainers, specifically white trainers, to work.

I could never bring myself to wear white trainers to work, it feels too casual. But wondered if a smarter pair of black trainers from Dune for example might be an option for me.

I've never worn black trainers so no idea how versatile they are, could they be worn in the autumn with midi dresses and skirts?

Does anyone wear black trainers to work and can advise how to style them?

Those Russell n Bromley style ones look frumpy to me. Maybe I just don't know what's in. Quite likely.
I saw these though I like these

@notacooldad thanks for the suggestion, but I want them for the A/W season so they need to be closed shoes/ trainers. I've already brought some chunky boots.

Does it have to be trainers.
I absolutely love my dr Marten sandals. I can walk for miles in them and they are so comfortable.
I wear them to work and out as well. Best 100 quid I've spent on clothing/ footwear ever.

I now wear smart trainers to work instead of high heels for day to day wear - love it! Have a look at Trinnys closet confessions for style inspiration, she’s done one episode on trainers. I go for slip on trainers as they look a lot smarter. The Russell and Bromley’s are fabulous - I have pair of those in white and some copies from
next in navy and black.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I really want to like superga trainers but they remind me of school PE pumps!

Not a fan of the asics, they look too sporty and casual for me.

@Thinkle I like the sound of the trainers you describe, do you have a link?

Sorry, just seen this, it’s these:

I'll probably end up going for vejas as I have them in white already and love them!

@Travelplans I'm confused by the carvela ones, the laces are white on the first picture but black on the others, and no further info/ description included. Maybe it's a lucky dip!

@Rollerbird I like the loci too but expensive, maybe one for my Xmas wishlist! Also they are canvas so won't be able to wear in the rain!

I wear Skechers ones. They’re comfy, fairly inexpensive and they are wipeable. (Important for work!) The ones I have look like Nikes.

Love the vejas op! Like the carvelas as well but they really need black laces don’t you think?

@saffy56 I do like vans on others but not sure they suit my style.

Thanks for the other suggestions guys, I'm hardly on my feet tbh, so not too bothered about comfort or practicality. I just want them to look smart casual and go with my midi skirts and dresses.

If you are on your feet all day fitflop rally trainers will spoil yr feet for any other shoe. I have the histopathology version.
Reebok classic black trainers have a foamy base so very very comfortable too.

I think any all black trainers are fine. Forgot my work shoes at the weekend and had to go buy another pair of cheap all black trainers. I think trainers are probably better than scheckers shoes.

How about a pair of plain black vans??

I'm not NHS but front line. I wear both white and black trainers for work. It has never been an issue. I usually wear Nike Air wear and they are so comfortable. I wear them with pretty much everything to work, wide leg trousers, mid length and long length dresses, jeans, leggings, flared skirts etc.
Comfort rules for me!

I wear black asics trainers for nhs job but wear them with black trousers. I have been looking to replace with black reeboks.
