Hi, does anyone use products to treat skin blemishes? Body and face?

@32ndOfFebtober my bad, but glycolic is for sure.

Azelaic helped with some sun spots, breakouts and skin texture, I agree it might not work for everyone, of course

Salicylic acid/BHA is not photosensitising. SPF should be worn year-round, any way, however.

(The Ordinary azelaic acid did nothing for me, btw.)

As long as you choose the right SPF it won't happen. You can't use acids and go around with no protection, you might end up having yet another problem - sun spots.

Have a look at:
paula's choice defense spf 30
Clinique spf 50 mineral sunscreen.

They never broke me out, I promise. And people usually love the PC one. I hate it too. But I swallow my pride, apply the bloody thing, wait 10 mins and apply foundation.

You get used to it. You'll still hate it - but you will get used to it and it will help long term, I promise

Also I'm wary of it clogging up my skin

I know but I hate the feeling of having a layer of it on my face. Feels gross.

No spf in the AM? You need SPF!!!! Glycolic and sali are both photosensitive!

AM - Neutrogena cleanser, Niacinamide and Squalene.

Hey, thanks for checking in. I'm not sure is going too well in terms of the new products. My face was shiny from too much product in the day then felt tight and started to feel a bit sore/sensitive. I gave it a break yesterday and I'm not really sure how to proceed. I don't know if it is the new stuff...my skin can be sensitive.

OP, thanks so much for replying with so much patience to all of my worries. I do feel better now.

Have you started your routine?

rumandbiscuits Congratulations, it sounds like you really had to go through the mill to get to where you are though. How did you find an appropriately trained skin specialist?

reading hey no worries at all! No need to shut yourself up. I think my head hair is the same and I don't think i've noticed any changes in body hair either.

OP, thanks so much for being so kind to me. A last question and I'll shut up promise. Is your hair worse now that you're not on the pill anymore? As in any greasier, etc. What about the hair on your body? Thanks. You've been so reassuring

I have suffered with horrific acne (mainly cystic acne but white and black heads also) since being a teenager. I went on the pill and my skin cleared up completely but due to headaches I had to come off and my bad skin came back with vengeance. I have tried what seems like every skincare routine going but nothing has ever worked. Recently I started LED light therapy (I have been having it once a week for about 5/6 weeks now) in between this I have had a pumpkin skin peel and a session of dermaplaning and honestly I don't have one spot on my skin atm which is like a bloody miracle for me! I still have scaring though and large pores on my nose so am going to have microneedling next week. I have had all of this treatment done with a trained beautician/skin specialist and would highly recommend. Good luck.

This is the best product I have ever used. I use the tiniest amount on a cotton bud before bed.

There are some reviews on their website.

Thank you for that article, god there is so much information out there! Best of luck coming off, i think you'll be fine. My skin was pretty bad before and it is still much much better than it used to be, just not as perfect as I got used to.

You did very well! Keep in mind my recommendation for the future, I love it.
Make sure you introduce the products one by one into your routine to see if your skin doesn't react well on any of them.

I'd start once a week with the niacinamide in the evening for starters.

Don't use both niacinamide and salycilic at the same time.

WEAR SPF. 30 is enough, but do it everyday. My absolute favourite spf is paula's choice defence 30.

I took a combination of what was recommended on this thread and on the regimen guide on the website. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%, Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, and Squalene.

I've already got Salicylic acid in a Clinique lotion and although I haven't used it in years, i don't remember it being very helpful, although as a PP said, I might put it in a spray bottle for my back.

I was tempted with your recommendation of cosrx Aha 7% whitehead solution and several of Crowley's recommendations but didn't think I should use more than one acid at a time and there are SO MANY options! It's very overwhelming.
