Do you wear expensive lipsticks or not?!

Do you think it’s worth spending a bit more and which brands do you recommend?

Since the heady days of Coffee Shimmer, I have always used a ‘colour me beautiful’ lipstick which I really like and lasts me ages, but everyone at work keeps raving about MAC so I thought I’d treat myself! Is it worth a punt? Or are there better makes out there??

My new favorites are Laura Mercier, the velour lovers ones, they go on a bit suedey feeling and are slightly powdery, but I like that, I like the look they give.

My most expensive ones were about £10 but I've had cheaper ones that were just as good - it just depends on who's making the exact colour I want at any given time.

Oops! Sorry, didn't realise this was a zombie

I agree with above that YSL are also very good and NYX is top notch for half the price

I think MACs colour range is fantastic but the quality is similar to drugstore. Guerlain is good but super pricey and Charlotte tilbury also feels worth it. Marc Jacobs always make my lips really dry. I've never tried NARS or illamasqua.

One of my favourites was a Clarins one (the bastard that stole my bag is probably enjoying it right now!). I also occasionally buy Dior. I have some Estee Lauder and Clinique and one or two Lancome ones but really I also love Rimmel and have a few M&S ones too which I am also happy with.

MAC is very drying but very long wearing. Need to keep lips well moisturised, as the formula makes any chapping incredibly obvious

Lady Danger is my go to red lippy, I feel hot to trot whenever I wear it. I do have Ruby Woo but find the more orangey red of Lady Danger more flattering to my colouring (and makes my green eyes really pop)

I don't have a lot of makeup. I rarely wear makeup. But yes, I like Chanel lipsticks.

I love MAC for lipstick. I don't really wear any other makeup so I like it bright.

I am olive/dark blonde/green eyed and for me Mehr is a good nude. So Chaud, Lady Danger for a red look and Mangrove which looks fluorescent coral-red on me so is good for the summer. I can pretty much drink what I want in those and only need to be careful with greasy foods. I find MAC lip pencils rubbish though and don't bother. Line my lips with lipstick and brush.

I like MAC Modesty for nude rather than Mehr, and Syrup/Brave or Plumful if going pink.Laura Marcia Babylips is a good nude with warmer tones for the summer. I have Lip Chics in Tea Rose which is my favourite expensive one.
Some of the Kiko matte range are good for cheap indelible colours.
Essence is great for really cheap.

Theothergirl. I am similar colouring and bought Mehr but gave it away! Syrup is much better. More sheer though

Sorry should have added '£1 shop'!

I actually tried one from £1 recently. It looked stunning Grin. It also lasted well. Sometimes cheaper brands are great.

I bought a Bobbi Brown art stick this week and it is fabulous!

I don't really like the formula of Mac lipsticks, I find them a bit drying. Luckily I've never paid for one but got a couple when I've taken back 6 empties/unwanted products (hopefully everyone knows MAC do this!!)

I like NYX lipsticks, ELF ones and Kiko Milano ones. I quite like lipstick queen too but only tried one. Formula is lovely but colour not that long lasting.

I don't smoke or do drugs and only drink a few times a year so my sin is high end make-up.

I love Chanel 'Boy' which is a really pretty soft pink, but it doesn't last very long.

I have just got into wearing Ruby Woo which is a stunning colour and I've had compliments from people who don't usually notice stuff like that.

I'm now after a really flattering pink for every day, but don't know where to start? I'm ashy blonde with grey/blue eyes and quite a lot of pink in my complexion though I tan very easily (so not sure if I am cool toned?)

I like Mehr by Mac but wonder if it's too brownish?

Lipstick is really the only makeup I wear and so I tend to buy more expensive ones like Chanel and YSL. I recently bought a Bobbi brown lipstick for the first time and really liked it and it stays on for ages

I love Nars Audacious - fabulous formulation and last quite well. My budget favourite is L'Oréal color riche, though my most favourite shade has been discontinued. I have 3 of them, so I'm hoping that I've found a replacement by the time they're all used up! I prefer regular lipsticks to the long last formulations, as I'd rather they wear off evenly rather than just on the inside.

Nars lip crayons are amazing. Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks are also very good, especially for reds and nudes.

I wear YSL or Chanel lipstick. They are so good.

Loving the complaints Smile

I tend to wear expensive lipstick, because it seems to work better on my dry and allergy-prone lips. But I also swear by Burt's Bees tinted balm which is cheap.
