Leave in conditioner for wavy hair

I've recently decided to stop straightening my natural waves and embrace them instead!

I have scalp psoriasis, so I have to use Vosene shampoo or else I'll itch and scab but can use any conditioner. What I'm really looking for is a leave in conditioner to give my hair moisture. But I've no idea what to use!

Spent 20 minutes staring at all the products in Boots and left with nothing. Anyone have recommendations?

How was your hair and cut OP? I Tried the Curly Girl method on Monday wow! I used Cantu conditioner in shower, left a tiny bit in, then used Jelly (CG friendly that I already had in), I only plopped for 20 mins as pushed for time and my hair still looks ok and is fairly soft and curly today Wed. How often do you co wash and when do you deep condition or cleanse etc.

Fantastic!! Sounds like sulfate-free could be a good move for you (your scalp and your curls!)

Would you go no-poo? I haven't yet but am getting closer, using sulfate free every third wash now and my hair isn't greasy at all.

I've had some bad hair days too though, and I think it's still settling down and getting used to the new regime but like you, my hair is showing real curly potential. I've spent my whole adult life shampooing and straightening, it's taking a bit of getting used to!

I'm reporting back in! Tried the Boots shampoo and my scalp is no worse, about the same really which is great. Used lots of conditioner and rinsed, then tiny amount to leave in.

I unfortunately got caught in the rain so my roots are frizzy but my hair has actual CURLS! I would post pics but the app doesn't let me.

My hair looks very, very shiny and feels soft. Think I'm on to something.

Thanks so much everyone!

I have massively sensitive skin so read all labels for shampoo/body wash/shower gel to avoid SLS - Daniel Galvin jr does nice range OH organic head which is SLS-free. I now use plain Castile liquid soap in the shower and my skin has really settled down.

Greenvallymama it honestly doesn't make my hair frizz. I do keep the air flow on a low setting, with the heat high though.
If you just hold the hair dryer above your head to dry your roots a bit, it totally gets rid of frizz drama. Don't touch your hair when it's drying and give it a blast of cold air once it's dry.
Hope that helps Grin

Finnmcool sorry, you're right, lots of curly girls diffuse. Does it not make your hair frizzy? I'm frizz prone but am thinking I might need to do it in winter or it'll take my hair all day to dry!

Yep op that's the one. The unscented shampoo is good to go with it - or the artichoke shampoo!
I just washed mine , the put it in a very high unicorn ponytail to sleep!

I don't know Tea, I loved it- the replacement (silicone free) seems to be called Botanique, but I don't like it as much.

GreenvallymamaI blow dry my hair using a diffuser and it's absolutely fine. I couldn't leave my hair to air dry, it's long, thick and a lit of it! Grin

Meant to say that the Weleda shampoo is sulfate free, the Inecto conditioner is silicone free and the Cantu custard is everything free too (and amazing at holding curls).

I think the curly girls might disagree with my use of the shampoo, but I'm gradually weaning myself off it! I'm not quite ready for no-poo yet.

I read an interesting article by the founder of Bumble and Bumble a few days ago which pretty much said everyone should go sulfate free, and that he's realised that his whole career has been making products to counteract the effects of sulfates on hair.

Sorry I'm late coming back to this, I have only recently gone low poo/ no-poo.

I've been using Weleda Oat shampoo (about £10) every third wash and using Inecto coconut conditioner (£1.49 from Home Bargains) to 'co-wash' in between and my hair is lovely at the moment. After co-washing I put in Cantu Shine and Define Custard (about £6 Superdrug online) and air dry.

Part of the curly girl method is no heat too, so no blow drying or straighteners.

I really hope it makes a difference to your scalp!

The new L'Oréal natural range looks good but so far I've only tried the safflower conditioner.

You can buy Avon on line, but I order through my neighbour whose been a rep for about 20 years so she gets commission.

The thing that works the best for me is to you the "Yes to Blueberries" conditioner and not rinse it completely (just 90%). Works a treat. I have tried leave in conditioners like "Mixed Chicks" but they leave my hair looking greasy.

Deva curl one condition works great too.

eyespy - well that's it, I've got to give it a go!! Did you find your roots were greasy at first? That's the other thing I'm prone to. What a nightmare, I really do hate my hair sometimes.

I did pick up some of Boots Botanics, the smoothing stuff. It says there are no sulphates in it, but time will tell. I didn't get a leave in, I'm going to try Mike's idea of regular conditioner and fingers crossed. I'll report back my findings.

If the shampoo makes no difference, I will just no use it at all. I'm not sure what causes my psoriasis, sometimes weather changes seem to make it worse, who knows Confused
