That a coloured pattern on a white background is ok for a wedding?

Summer wedding in Italy. I don't want sweaty polyester.

Dress

I feel there should be some kind of international agreement on this issue.

It's a lovely dress, go for it! I feel particularly qualified to comment having married an Italian in summer in Italy Smile

The question for me is always whether a dress looks vaguely bridal which this clearly does not with the colour.

I had a couple of people turn up to my wedding in short cream lacy dresses and didn't bad an eyelid!

I really like your first choice and would style it with very colourful accessories. If the bride is going for traditional all-white big frock then there would be no confusion. How well do you know the bride? Can you email the link and ask her opinion?

I think it is far too white!

Yes I think that's absolutely fine. It is not bridal in any way and is a very nice dress for a wedding.

Also I'm quite short. 5'3ish.

I'm a size 10. Budget around £100. I'd usually spend a bit more but it's going to be a bit of an expensive do. Also I hardly wear nice dresses anymore at other times so don't want to spend too much.

What's your actual budget for dress and cover-up (assuming you need both)? What size are you after?

Oo, now then, I like that one on asos.

Linnen suit for DH. Super easy, formal-ish but not too warm.

The other stories one is lovely but not me really. I take your point about it maybe being too warm. I was looking at unlined cotton and linen floaty dresses but they're all too casual or just plain white!

It's nice dress and absolutly worth trying on. I don't think close fitting, lined cotton is really going to be that all that cool though. Did you see that the lining is 50% Viscose? 'cause 2 layers of 100% cotton would be too hot and heavy. Then you've got a cover-up and bag to wrangle too. Sounds like hard work.

The & other stories dress is well worth a try. Love the back too. You might hate that particular dress, of course! It's well worth looking at sleeves rather than sleeveless and a cover-up if you need coverage against the sun, tends to be much cooler and more comfortable.

I don't really get it either. I'd think it was weird if someone went to my wedding in an actual wedding dress but I'm not sure I'd be annoyed even at that. It's not me who'd be humiliated is it? I'd just feel a bit worried about them!

I am, however, aware that my opinion on this matter is not shared by all. And I don't really want to go all the way to Italy to piss someone off. Hmm.

I think your dress with navy or bright blue accessories will be perfect! Totally. Do it!

Those are lovely but I didn't really want to spend so much. I think I'll order both the esprit ones and try them on then decide.

There are nice cotton dresses around but they're often really plain or colours that don't suit me. I've seen some really lovely floaty ones but they're all polyester and I just know they'll be sticky and I don't want to be uncomfortable.

I find this so odd. Not at all too white for a wedding - do people actually care? It's hardly bridal. I couldn't tell you what a single other person wore to my wedding!

I think it's lovely OP.

Ralph lauren 98% cotton but much more expensive. Because the flowers are over the top it looks less white

How about this? It has sleeves against the sun but looks lovely and light. It's viscose mind.

Good viscose is fantastic stuff to wear. It is a synthetic (well, a semi-synthetic actually) but because it's made from wood cellulose rather than plastic like polyester it has a lot of the qualities of natural fibers.

It's a beautiful dress and not remotely bridal. It's perfect for an Italian wedding.

DH says too white. And I actually have to go with him. And he knows the couple better than me. Dammit.

I think the other day people were saying this mainly white dress was fine for a wedding, so I reckon your original choice should be also - its lovely BTW
