So Samantha Cameron has launched a clothing label. I've just had a look and I really like it - looks potentially very wearable. What do you reckon?

(Can't see another thread about this - apols if I'm repeating)

I actually quite like this dress but I'd like to feel the quality before buying.

Way too expensive but i like it

Just looked at the website.

It's hard not to balk at 'women who don't want to let their love of fashion detract from their dignity and intelligence.'

Hard to take from a woman whose husband's premiership saw the return of food banks. Imagine queueing at one of them might detract from one's dignity a touch.

Not for me.

Don't find it too expensive, but I wouldn't buy a thing from her on principle. She and her husband have thrown the nation into disarray. I hope the venture fails and she has to find a real job. But that's unlikely.

Dull and old fashioned. M&S with a bigger price tag.

BTW am solely basing my opinion on the clothes - don't really give a monkeys who 'designed' them.

I think the 'design' comments are harsh. She's done an art foundation course, as well as a fine art degree, worked for Smythson and won a best accessory designer award. She has a clear background in the creative field, she's hardly a bored housewife who decides to run up a few frocks!

I quite like it, looks nicely tailored while subtle detailing - didn't expect to think much of it though as I usually don't like -hated- her style.
I wouldn't buy from her on principle.

Wouldn't touch it with a barge pole seeing as how her husband has ruined the country and all.
Some things are more important than clothes.

I quite like them but I have zero interest in fashion so am unable to comment on them in that regard. What does strike me, though, is that they are intended for women d'un certain âge (like I am, and so is SamCam) but modelled by teenagers. I do think age-appropriate models would have been better.

I have just had another look at the clothes, and no, I really don't like them at all. She does like her funnel necks doesn't she.

AgathaF · 14/02/2017 12:28

I quite like some of the stuff, but it's very much designed for a particular body shape, ie hers, so not much good for an hour glass figure

It would be good if she's used her connections to ensure they're ethically produced.

Thanks Limey Hmm .... To be fair, I'm not sure it's even be possible to produce high quality clothing in the uk now. All the sewing factories round here but are long gone. I might allow her Macedonia if she knows who her suppliers are and is confident they don't use sweat shops.

It's all based on the same patterns! It's like she's got Simplicity patter nnumber xyz and made up all the alternatives from it in crepe! 'Ooh look, funnel neck top and funnel neck dress and funnel neck sleeveless shirt.....

I really like it and if I was in my old job would definitely have ordered some to try for work clothes.

I have had a career change recently and am much more casual, but love some of the tops in particular. Would need to see the construction and quality to comment on the price.

I'm amazed that anyone would start a thread on this topic for any purpose other than to laugh at the self-serving opportunism and tone-deaf irony of SC starting an expensive clothes range.

Seeing as this seems to be actually talking about fashion, I have nothing to say, as I am damn well not clicking on her website.

But 'maxi cullottes', 'funnel neck dress', and 'viscose polyester' are not sounding good to me.

Limey just seen my post again and thought I'd better be clear that the Hmm was at Macedonia, not at you!

That black dress with the zip down the front would ''take you anywhere'' as they say.

Yes! Once you've seen the first 2 or 5 bits you've seen it all.

It's all stuff she would buy and it's clearly all designed for Samantha Cameron by Samantha Cameron. Not an indicator of a good designer.
